Enki's Arc Witch Memorial Page

I am quite new into the game and I would love to hear suggestions to improve this build. Is it balanced somehow? What major flaws can you spot?

Hi ! i got a few ex in stock, i was wondering what would be the best upgrade for me between a watcher's eye with lightning damage, with lightning penetration, or a mark of the shaper + an elder ring.

Which on of those update should i prioritize and whats the best ? lightning dmg, or lightning pentration ?

I dont think i will use an inpulsa btw, i like having more life and being a little bit more tanky.

Thanks :)
@ Enki

First of all:
Thank you for all the hard work you're putting into this!
Having created and maintained builds myself (and then not playing for 4-5 years, so they're pretty useless now) I know how much time this takes. It's my first time trying a caster build and so far I'm really enjoying it!

Regarding the character limit issue:
The third entry in this thread is also yours. And I guess

doesn't contain any valuable information for us. Maybe you could use that for future changes/move some parts there.
But first take your well deserved break!
Hi All!

Since now we have energy leech as one of the 6-linked gems. Doesn't it make more sense to replace hypothemia (39% more damage when chilled) with controlled destruction (10% increased spell damage + 44% more spell damage)? Or even Empower Level 4 if we have a +1 level to gem chest?
Would be nice if you could tell us exactly how many regret orbs it will take to change our current tree to the new tree... and some reasoning or explanation for changing in the first place instead of just being like "oh hey, completely changing your skill trees that you've leveled passed 90 with here u go!"

like wth man..

offtopic:
i hope i am missing some point of irony or sarcasm in this post, bc otherwise this would be wrong on so many levels.

ontopic:
is there such thing as "too much energy shield" or a ratio we should aim for like in 3.5 "43% of life as mana"

i did a slighty different version of the tree bc of the devouring diadem i dont need to go the "static blows" "eldrich battery" route.
i went over "foresight" for an extra jewel slot to the east of the tree.
it gives me 5 jewels 5,6k life and 3,3k ES, and i wonder if that is too much which could be better invested in more life.

This is my first time playing more seriously so I'm not 100% on what items are good or not for this build. Is this unique worth it at all?

It's 35-40 regret orbs, depending on exactly which passives you took up until that point. You should have found more than enough of them if you're at level 90+ already. IT IS WELL-WORTH IT! It is a big improvement in terms of survivability.

I don't think you realize how much time and effort Enki puts into maintaining this guide. You should be thankful--not rude--that he took the time to make this update after already completely redoing the build for 3.6. He has a deep understanding of the game through many years of experience, so these updates were considered extremely carefully and not just made on a whim.

There is a reason this build is always near the top of the list in terms of popularity and has over 1,000 pages of discussion. Enki doesn't profit from this popularity or all the time he spends answering questions that are already addressed in the 1st post; he certainly doesn't need any BS from haters because he chose to make a major improvement to the build in the first few weeks of the league. If you don't want to respec, there's a link to the first 3.6 passive tree, again, in his original post. Go knock yourself out. This guide is an incredible resource for newbies and veterans alike, and you should be thanking Enki for his efforts, not chastising him.

Enki, thank you for the update; I am definitely feeling the ES boost and feel really good about the direction my character is heading in. I am hoping to see more discussion from the veterans playing this build about crafting and handling UE in the next few weeks, as that is my immediate focus at this point. I haven't been able to find a comprehensive list for this league of where to obtain craftable mods, which I badly need for dagger upgrades. I have noticed that ambushers seem to be the new preferred dagger base of the league, as lvl 85+ shaper ambushers are WAY more expensive than sais. Does anyone have any input on whether the extra WB speed is worth losing the 12% chance to block (attacks)?

Finally, to everyone hitting a wall at red-tier maps, I strongly recommend using delve to farm the chaos orb vendor recipe at monster level 60-65, buying exalts immediately when you have enough chaos to, and BUYING AN INPULSA'S as quickly as possible. It is not just a colossal damage boost, but also a really significant survivability one, as vaporizing a pack is much preferable to simply melting them (especially the porcupines!). This is assuming that you've already followed the basic steps in Enki's upgrade guide in the original post, have maxed out resistances, etc. I know 4-5 ex seems like a lot, but a few days to a week of persistent, efficient, focussed farming should be enough: I had mine on day 3 from doing exactly what I recommended above.

@Baldry
Would honestly be too much work, and especially in long responses like this probably get me to the comment character limit.

@Mokurp & Tuzai
It's good together with a Lv21 Arc and +1 to Level of socketed Gems chest in replacement for Unleash, before that I wouldn't bother.

@babyfranet
Update is live, you can see all changes in the changelog.

You do need Beacon of Ruin to reliably chill, but since it's not a crit build you will barely ever shatter.

@anbeoxxx
10ex is more than enough, all you really need is some above average DPS pieces and enough ES, and the small changes to Pantheon and Kaom's Roots.

I'd recommend a Lv21 LS Trap and Discipline, unless you want to keep the Vaal Discipline as backup. Shroud of the Lightless could be a nice replacement until Inpulsa's, would let you gain more Life and ES and some damage.

Transcendent Mind and a decent Watcher's Eye can boost sustain, the latter also damage depending on mods. Last but not least could look into new boots and eventually daggers, and Shaped Gloves with trap mods for a 5/6L LS Trap.

@MKU_Nirvana
Any daggers with three DPS mods should be better. Currently you lose damage from those weapons by having to use a QS Flask, which you could easily switch for Atziri's Promise with daggers and also have more mobility in the end.

@jester147
Jade Flask + Alchemist nodes helps on top of CwDt IC against Porcupines. And eventually Inpulsa's, once you can afford one.

@Mokurp
Yes we do use Elemental Overload. Mind over Matter with most of your mana reserved won't work well without EB and a decent ES pool, also if you don't take EB then any damage going to your ES won't be mitigated by Mind over Matter.

@Synet08
Looks like you're still playing the old version, if you don't want to switch to the new one i'd recommend new daggers and proper flasks for now.

@asklan123
I've easily done all content with temp league-realistic gear when testing a weaker version of the 3.6 build in Standard.

@fecteau30
Probably still double damage or double damage while focussed, or attack speed if you want the mobility and don't mind a slight damage loss.

@eternity5575
What I personally don't like about Vinktar is that it's limited to just one use now, not much of an issue while clearing but it really hurts in longer bossfights. If you're ok with that then it's an ok budget flask.

@Sarwar94
I've kept most jewel sockets for higher levels, but you can spec into them earlier if you have good enough jewels to use.

To upgrade a temple unique, check this page.

Lightning Spire Trap is more useful than Storm Brand, which is why it's not one of the optional setups in this guide.

Good body armour until Inpulsa's are only a rare or Shroud of the Lightless.

We never used Herald in the main build, it's just replacing Wrath until you have all reduced reservation nodes.

No other support gems are worth using over those.

You're getting enough reduced reservation from passives, no need for a special item to run all auras.

@Yumekox
You can with the crafting bench after finding the recipe, should be in Act 4 Dried Lake somewhere near Voll. The higher level recipe is in Vastiri Desert in Act 9.

@DEagleEye007
First step should be getting more ES into your build, you can try to reroll the gloves and look for a helmet with higher ES, and then atleast a 5L ES chest or Shroud of the Lightless if it's within your budget.

After that, try to replace all jewelry & belt except for the Dread Grip ring, just craft life on it and it's fine to use for now. Heartbreakers are ok to start, use them for now so you can use Whirling Blades and skip the Quicksilver Flask, also replace the Mana Flask as it's not needed with EB.

Also, none of the uniques you've linked are really worth it for this build. The linked jewels are also not that great, could possibly replace them easily for a few chaos each.

@FreecellZlo
I feel that the opportunity cost is not really worth it, you're losing both ring slots to save six passives. If you really want to keep the Herald, i'd go with the regular setup and Devouring Diadem, get leech on a piece of jewelry and go with Beacon of Ruin + Mastermind of Discord.

@akromacc
I find Unleash isn't needed that much with Inpulsa's, the Arc - Empower - Echo - Pen - Leech - Hypo setup is what i'm personally using in my +3 Inpulsa and it works very well.

@JGonzaga
I'm checking my DPS always against Shaper, with leeching ES, shocked recently (when using Inpulsa), enemy is chilled and if 150% shock effect, also enemy is shocked activated, if not you need to calculate your shock damage increase manually. I'm also doing another check with all those options and Onslaught and Flasks to figure out burst DPS.

Ilvl85 dagger is enough, and the ele as chaos mod is correct. Good luck crafting!

@Nailsinyourhead
You can get my filter by typing !filter in my stream chat, however be warned - it's made for SSF and hides lots of stuff that you could sell in a trade league.

@RhymesWithRed
Just any other point of the higher level trees. You'd need to reach Lv100 to take something that's not in any trees, in that case just get another Life node.

@ArisFuser
Inpulsa is definitely king, you won't get that clearspeed increase with any other chest and it adds a bunch of survivability too.

Your setup looks fine, i'd say next work on some shaped gloves and a boot enchant.

@LexusVal
Daggers. The damage loss from implicits barely exists, infact the crit implicits will make EO proc easier which is much more consistent damage increase than wand implicits provide. Also daggers are able to use Whirling Blades, which is a huge part of this builds survivability.

@Tuzai
New tree has same amount of jewel sockets, i've just kept them for higher levels but you can of course take them earlier if you have some jewels worth using.

@Impatchi
Someone pointed out it can possibly conflict with the flat Lightning Damage to Attacks that Wrath provides. All of Flame Golems skills are listed as spell, but i'm not sure if that's actually the case as you know, the wiki is managed by players and not everything has to be 100% correct and I couldn't really find any further information about this.

@fichi
The passive trees in this guide are literally just exported from PoB, so they should be the same. You get 18 free respec points through quests, how many regrets you need on top of that depends on how far you've been in your passive tree, atleast 4 and at most 13. Minmaxing flasks by 1% is not that important.

@MarcelSweet
Go into the Physx settings in your Nvidia driver and set it to your GPU instead of auto, this small change removed all performance issues for me in this game.

@sanaluffy
Since you do like tankiness, i'd look for a Watcher's Eye with any of the two listed Discipline mods or maybe even the Zealotry ES Leech Rate mod, then probably LS Trap gloves and eventually an ES helmet with a good enchant. Mark of the Shaper wouldn't do much good, you'd probably have to switch around lots of gear to stay res capped and end up even losing damage.

@Kikaina
Thank you! I did plan to use that comment to expand the guide a little more, but that random comment inbetween really bugs me. I've messages GGG support a few months ago but they didn't want to remove it, will try once more through the forum this time, hopefully with more success.

@Fuuchouin1
CD means we'll have a hard time proccing EO, especially for people who dropped the Storm Brand 3L, so that would turn into a huge effective damage loss. Empower Lv4 would only be an option to replace Unleash in a +1 Inpulsa's, as it's not really worth investing into any other +1 corrupted 6L.

@tyrusxl
This information was at the top of this guide for a few days before i've changed to the new tree - atleast 22 and at most 31 respec points. You do get 18 free respecs from quest, and everyone who even played that far will have enough regrets for the rest just from drops.

The main reason for the new tree was to improve ES Leech and get more stability and sustain into the build through that. It also has a little bit more life, +24% inc ES, a bit more damage, more mobility and removed dex needs from gear, or alternatively frees up some passives for optional stuff if you do have dex on gear.

@subcutan
Imo there's not too much ES. For example if you take a big hit that takes off 95% of your life and ES, you can easily replenish the life through flasks and leech but your ES will take some time to refill, so it's good to have a little extra buffer beyond the 43% treshold.

@Bloodbath13
That belt isn't good for this build, but it's one of the uniques that can gain a bit of value with a nice corruption, although that's not so important for you in SSF.

@Neuromonger
You get 18 respec points for free from quests and as I wrote to tyrusxl, it only takes 22-31 total, or in other words, 4-13 regret orbs.

@WorderMostFoul
First of all, thank you! I do use Sai daggers with my standard char and must say, it's still pretty fast and having 33% attack block chance with Mysticism is noticeable. Haven't tried any 1.5 bases with the new tree yet, but given the cost factor i'd probably just go with Sai.
