Casters don't even have to move in this game...need I say more?

Tommie nailed it pretty well with his list. Though I'll elaborate on it.

Caster:

Shield - Very consistent RNG mechanic here, spell block and melee block variants.

Molten Shell - 1hit killing power, no effort, spammable, huge range

Tempest shield - Augments shield, applies shock, can kill you easily if you're not penetrating block.

CWDT - Benefits casters more then any other arch type in the game. Anti melee set ups out the ass. Auto casts, auto aims, can critical, does as much damage as their main skill...

meaning they have around 2 main skills firing off at the same time + blocking + molten + tempest shield + option to lightning warp if they wanted to, to regen their entire ES pool. Though they don't have to move 9.9:10 times because they've already 1-2 hit killed you before they even turned around to realize a duel started.

Damage output and speed - Echo has broke spell casting. Damage output ...1-2hit kills regardless of your resist/hp/es, huge critical potential.

Energy shield pool - Yes...6-10k ES depending on build type, 8k being average + above mechanics.

Melee 2h:

Acrobatics/Phase acrobatics - No where near as consistent as blocking, namely because you're being hit with multiple attacks at once and you can't Dragon Ball Z/GT the shit out of them all. So you're getting hit and you're getting hit with shit that 1hit kills you, so ...enjoy?

CWDT: Oh you get anti melee set ups......that do nothing vs elemental nor spell damage. Strap on some curses (warded), endurance charges (wont save you from death) and a way to chill maybe (only semi viable one)? woooooot

Damage output and speed - You're not 1 hitting anything/anyone...hope you can land as many hits as you need to before you die. You're also not faster then anyone either.

Heath pool - Yes 6-11k HP depending on build type, 8k being average + the lack of above mechanics.

2h are viable in the right hands. They aren't the best arch type in pvp, they don't out damage/out tank anyone. They need to get close to deal damage (desynch, caster defense options). It is what it is, put 2 and 2 together.

Melee 1h/shield:

Shield/Acro/Phase acro options - Already been stated, now just combined if you decided to go this route. Generally just shield here, also depends on HP or ES based.

Tempest shield: Not augmented by spell damage in this situation and linking it with anything will still never make it caster level. You get it for potential shock and block chance, its not going to lazily do all the work for you while you jack off i.e caster style.

Molten: See tempest shield, its useless outside of armor.

Damage output and speed - Depends on HP or ES based CI/melee dmg on full etc..etc.., though 1h have as good or better damage output then a 2h'r with damn near the same weapon range but far more speed and critical potential.

Health and Energy shield pools - 5-6k HP average, ES potentially a tad higher and benefits from melee on full of going CI.

CWDT: See 2h

1h/shield is universally balanced for pvp, you have a lot of options yet none are the best. Still better then 2h I don't give a shit what anyone wants to say. Must get into do damage (desynch, caster defense options)

Dagger 1h/shield:

Shield/Acro/Phase acro options - See 1h/shield

Damage output and speed - Same as 1h/shield, yet daggers are more explosive and have as good base damage. Obviously the superior option for 1h melee is to just go dagger since you can whore the block reduction gem now.

Health and Energy shield pools - Pretty much inline with 1h/shield

CWDT: See 2h/1h

Dagger > casters if they can 1 shot them. Daggers aren't "fast", they strive on flicker 1shotting stuff and repeating this til it works. They aren't chain flickering you at stupid speeds til you die. Its flicker...stop...flicker..stop (did I win yet?). Occasionally you get punctured,whirling blades but the rest is irrelevant. Its in no way shape or form the same level of dumb as a fully loaded caster. Must get in to do damage...flicker solves this issue plus kills, so I wont consider desynch an issue here. Though caster defense options and RNG dice rolls to avoid death to them are still inherent.

Bow:

Acro/Phase acro - See 2h, add quiver for a nice synergy + flare

Damage and speed: Very strong now with a lot of different skill choices that can ruin players, also shoot very fast. Id say bow is legitimately good, no bull shit just a really solid arch type now. Nothing overly stupid nor broken, sitting right where they should be. I'd only argue mirrored harbingers are a bit overkill. Not very mobile unless you lightning warp (ha). Or swap hands to leap/whirling blades.

CWDT: See anything non caster. Add that frost walls, knock back options are viable here more so then as a melee. Still not firing arrows out of your ass auto aimed with free kill potential i.e caster.

Health and Energy shield pools - 6-11k HP here, Energy shield id assume between that...honestly don't know this one.

Bow is solid as stated in Damage and speed. They needed that block reduction gem to really have a chance in pvp before. That paired with the base bow buffs, tree buffs and better skill gem options have made bow pretty solid in this department. Add to it that they are ranged and it makes Bow vs Caster a pretty fair match up.



I won't go any further here, its pretty fucking obvious already. If you can't figure this out, maybe if I space and capitalize it all so you can comprehend it? L I K E T H I S?

I'm logging out, not wasting my time here anymore. If you guys can't put the circle peg into the circle hole and figure this shit out on your own, then I was right about how crappy the pvp'rs are on this game. Guys like Boredashell and a handful of others are true pvpers and have been pvping on other games many years prior to this one. They saw this just as clear as I did.

If you could go fully unbias for just a moment and had the power to ban anything (gems, maps, uniques) from an HLD tourney, what is a list of stuff youd ban. (I will not ban these, im just curious if responses have any coorelation or reoccuring ban suggestion [science])

Id appreciate if as many hlders could give me their honest shortlist here.

I can't think of anything, to be honest. A year ago I would have said righteous fire, before the huge nerf.

CwDT I can probably agree with. Is CoS that effective in pvp? I didn't know many used it.

I love using CoD in pvp. Adds an interesting meta to 3v3's. I like to use it as an extra layer of "defense". Makes the other team more careful and calculated... they can't just charge in steam rolling their opponents.

I don't use CoD as my primarly skill though. More as a backup to complement the rest of the build, as a caster/trapper.
