PvP Damage formula's

Dear GGG,

Why don't you tell us the damage formula's of PvP?
Are they per skill?
Are they progressive (bigger hits = more damage reduction)?
Are there specific rules to them in relation to defensive stats or player levels?

How are we supposed to plan out our PvP builds if we cannot anticipate what damage we will do? Now some people are just spending dozens of exalts on a build that works fine on paper, only to discover that for unknown reasons (hidden PvP damage reduction) it doesn't work out well.

Even if PvP is not a priority, and many formula's might still change when the PvP patch comes out, what's the harm in or the effort of sharing with us the current damage reduction formula's?

Please respond, dear GGG.

Yours sincerely,

Soepkieken

I can tell you the dmg formulas are per skill. Some skills have a 10x reduction on the higher end, wihle some have very low to none reduction.

I am pretty sure they are progressive

I am pretty sure that, at least for some skills there is a relation between dmg reduction and level of char the dmg is dealt to.

I agree that making these stats public would make PVP more accessible, and it makes perfect sense we, as players, know them.

On the other hand, in the current state if you find something that works better than the previous logical skill setup, after days of pondering and testing on willing PVPtropes, then you will feel wonderful.

For instance, just yesterday I found a flicker setup that I don't think anyone uses, which is simply great. Even tho it has lower tool tip dmg, it deals substantially more dmg to players. Well... it needs more testing, but for now I feel pleased.

I guess you made that beartrap build even though we said it won't be as good as you think and now realized we were correct!

Sorry to disappoint you.
I didn't make the bear trap build exacly because I cannot calculate the damage as I don't know the PvP formulas.

I thought Hege's bear trapper did good in the tourney. Why is it bad?

Also why doesnt hege use a slightly weaker multi trap version too just to get the enemy stuck and then throw the high dps single ones after?

Everyone hege fought including myself didn't approach the traps properly. They tried to just beat him with range and anticipating where he may have tossed bear traps. I was under geared and couldn't destroy them. Traps though very viable, when approached properly (tedious duels) aren't top tier PvP builds. As for multi bear trap, yep that's a solid option. He used to use multi back in the day. Perhaps he just wanted to use the most dmging version at all times relying on the fact they are still hard to anticipate and no one destroyed them we enough.

Because while on paper it seems good, in practice it isnt. With whirl blades, leap slam and light warp, ppl just can just run away. So since its hard to hit smart ppl with traps, that time you hit your opponent you need to kill him cause you have very few opportunities
