Am I the only one who doesn't care about races?
I used to not care about races until they introduced descents. Now I'm addicted to them.

I like to watch them.
But take part in them? Oh god no. Apart from not having a single competitive bone in my body, I have a rather big (pretty massive, really) aversion to being up against a clock. Anything I am doing, however enjoyable, is completely not enjoyable if timed. But as I say, I really enjoy watching them. Casually casual.

I've burned myself out on races in season 1 and 2. By the end of season 2, each race felt like a chore. Got a couple demis though, but that's short lived satisfaction.
In season 3, I find that I don't care to gather uniques that will likely sit in my hardcore stash forever (I will never play hardcore, I'll play whatever new hot league is on at the moment). So, I do the occasional 1h race for a change of pace, but my days of regular racing are pretty much done. |

I care as long there is some motivation behind it.
The shedule is total junk, the majority of races is boring and the prices are junk, the ruleset change is dumb. So no you aren't the only one who doesn't care. |

I like races.
I dont like how theyve become more random and less skill intensive compared to closed beta, or how the prize structure went from immediately fun and rewarding for everyone to being a huge grind that only pays out to 1% of the racing population. IGN: KoTao

" Also, the increase in the number of races has had a mostly negative impact, from my perspective. In CB, there were stretches during which only one or two races occurred on select weekends. Each race felt like a big event, and the competition seemed a lot higher. I really miss that about CB; the races nowadays don't feel nearly as special. IGN: Truncator

" And of course, they are out of place in such a game. But you are seeing the side of POE you want to see... the one that appeals to you (and me also to be fair). But other people like other things, neh? I don't trade. I don't group. My comments reflect that.

I spent a lot of time in the lower levels as I tried to progress through hardcore because I died a lot at first. I'm pretty burnt out on new characters and I have no hope of getting a demigod so I don't bother.

I would say that there are some issues with racing atm, but overall it's what you make of it. It's similar to running opening builds in RTS'. You do them over and over again to get your timing and reactions perfect. It's not hard getting a character to a decent level given enough time. This adds different layer for a different group of hardcore players.
Get chance and luck!

The races just take a lot of time to master, and also much preparation. I for one do not enjoy races much because of the fact that they exist in hardcore mode only. There have been many times where I was doing just fine leveling up (not competitively, but at my own pace) and I'm ransacked by a group of monsters my build couldn't take. I find that the lack of consolation prizes in the races is what makes them so annoying. Dying in a race renders my time and effort useless, and I'm sure no one here likes that...
