Hello again.
Got another question about armor-base items. Do i prefer armor or something else while leveling and getting started. Can't imagine having uniques simply because i will fear to lose currency with no value back.(Ofc. i am using cheap core items and jewels) Also does armor prevent only phys. dmg and what is my way to reduce this type of it. Is it important at all? I mean it looks like against devastating blows it is kinda useless and you can never have enough to reduce "almost-lethal" damage dramatically, so may be there is another options on gear to focus on. Also wondering how it affects Determination if i dont run full-armor. Comparing shields while having no Crest of Perandus near 60 was difficult because of it. I really miss the value of armor and dont know if it is more important than little hp\resists(if overcapped) boosts or not. Got raped at lvl 61 merc by corpse explosion while cycloning. I swear I have not seen anything with that effect around. Could you give me an advice how to prevent it next time? Atleast i want to have my time to see whole life flashing before my eyes. ^^ I find myself in trouble when it is already late pretty often. :c Lethal blows, unreasonable(?) boss power spike, explosions etc. Personally, i am sure it is a lack of practice and patience, but still, may be it is something else to help me stay alive. P.S. By unreasonable boss power-spike i mean awesome experience of fighting Kole. It took 2-3 hours for me to understand that i was pretty lucky to block 7-10 atacks in a row while killing him before he smashed me to death in slam-auto(which was a crit probably) P.S.S. Do i even go for merc. if there i have no 3x 75% or still try to farm cruel a bit? |

First of all yes, armour prevents only physical damage and yes that is extremely important. High amounts of armour which you will reach at some point will limit the possible physical one shots greatly. Your biggest armour contributor in terms of gear pieces is your lioneye shield which you should equip at level 70 combined with the shield defense nodes and determination. The other ways to mitigate the physical damage (most of which are used by this build) are block, evading, dodging, endurance charges, fortify, converting the physical damage with things like taste of hate and lightning coil. The way to combat physical damage is to combine as much of those mechanics as possible and actually this build utilizes all of them.
As for corpse explosion it deals fire damage a single explosiontshouldn't be a problem as long as you have capped fire res. The eallyreally deadly corpse explosion is from the strong box mod in which case you should just run away and wait for the box to activate it while you are not there. Go in merchant even if you don't have capped res and just grind the ledge in act 1 merc "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Hello! I have been using your post for a long time now. It is crazy good and so useful. I have shared your post with many people I play with and they love it too.
My question is about Fortify. I have respec'd just recently with 2.1 and I removed all 4 nodes from the Fortify area to give me more phys dmg all the time and more life. Here's my tree now: https://www.pathofexile.com/fullscreen-passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwQBAdwEhwSzBS0LYQxfERoUIBXsGj4blxynI9MpLi_MMZ4yCTJONZI8BTwtQKBDMUSeR35KmErITP9N404qUEdTpVO7V1ReE18_YVJi7GVNZ5to8mxGbmlul26qbydvO3Jscqlza3Ttd-N4DXk5eu97w3y4fNl-4oIHguSDX4PMhNmE74qvj5mQEZOolFyZK5pqns2f36IAplepbq4-r2y18raKtz65Hb02vYG-p7_VwBrAZsC_wYLE9sauypDMZtIh1fjYvdl82sHkUenV7w7vTu988B_yL_JB8pz3Mve-_gr-jw== My gems I use are: Infernal Blow + Faster Attacks + Multistrike + Melee Splash + Melee Physical Standing in my hideout, I am at 78K DPS wih Hated, Flame Golem and Herald of Ash. I can get over 85K or so DPS when using Blood Rage, and my armor + evasion (with Iron Reflexes) is almost 19K. I am level 90, so leveling is slow now, but should I reconsider? I really love the build now. But you do make a good case for Fortify. ign: Edwurd_of_Steel

Well what you are asking has more to do with a more fundamental debate - defense vs offense. I'm on my phone and writing with it is torture so to shortly explain my position on the matter I'll just say that when you reach a high level character getting experience becomes slow and maintaining a map pool that actually gives you any experience is hard and expensive and because of that every experience point is precious. At that point dying hurts like hell it sets you back with hours and later on even with days. When you realize that the decision between sacrificing some offenses for defenses or to get more damage becomes obvious.
As for the fortify nodes... Personally I find the points spend compared to the usefulness that you get to be rather ineffective. Fortify is awesome with any passive skill tree investment. " Thank you for the quick reply, especially while on the phone!! :) I see what you mean about XP at the high levels. And adding more to Defense is a great idea. I did take more life nodes with the respec. And if I understand you correctly, I agree, the 4 Fortify passive tree nodes don't seem that amazing to me compared to life I added. So maybe I will play around with removing Melee Phys and replacing that with Fortify. So go from: Infernal Blow + Faster Attacks + Multistrike + Melee Splash + Melee Physical To: Infernal Blow + Faster Attacks + Multistrike + Melee Splash + Fortify What I really need is a 6L :) EDIT UPDATE: Just did a quick test to kill Voll in Dried Lake on Merciless. So with Melee Phys and Blood Rage running I peak at 100K DPS, while with Fortify and Blood rage, I get to 71K DPS. And I didn't feel like I lost less HP when I let Voll hit me with Fortify running. It felt the same in both cases. Of course, this is purely subjective, but I think I will keep Melee Phys in for now. Maybe swap Fortify in against certain bosses. Does that make sense? ign: Edwurd_of_Steel Last edited by GamingDaemon#7126 on Dec 25, 2015, 4:48:06 PM

Yes it is reasonable, personally I would've loose the multistrike and not the melee physical damage though ;)
But yeah I'd suggest that you save up for a 6l. "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Like a RAINBOW!"

Well honestly a daresso's defiance is between 5 and 9.569 times better ;)
The loss in resistances can be fix with 2-3 if you need them of course... and pretty much that is the only "drawback" "I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Like a RAINBOW!"
