I feel like they are completely running into the wrong direction on this one.
1. + skill lvl gets nerfed only for martial weapons not for casters
2. life leech nerf (although mainly targeted on overpowerd cast on crit builds) is a huge nerf for martial classes.
3. the essence crafting changes will make it way harder to get a good martial weapon.
I dont know why this decision was made, but it seems like the 0.5 nerfs are mainly targeted on nerfing martial weapon builds. Especially melee builds will suffer with the life leech changes. I am all for making the content a challange, but please do it for the casters too.
As a warrior enjoyer it feels really bad to see so many nerfs to an already weak class.

Did the leech changes really change anything for melee?
Melee leech had an effectiveness of 0.
when you nerf 0 effectiveness you still have 0 effectiveness.
Especially if you're maces. You hit too slow for it to be worth the opportunity of actually speccing into leech. My deaths were never slow chip damage, its almost always being in an animation and getting wrecked.
When they add axes/swords and they're shooting lasers and projectiles across the screen blowing up everything and you have (maybe) slayer leech. It will be a shame it was nerfed.
I didn't read the intricate changes regarding leech though.
When you only have 3-3.5k life I dont think leech had the same effect as people stacking life.
In conclusion: I'd say just log in when the league launches and play it and see what its like. For the 90th time have faith that they're interested in making the game better.
After all the nerfs (changes) to martial weapons may be a way to push people to play unarmed monk. LOL

Casters have >65% for Mana roll and 72% for Mana roll on last prefix.
Casters are also nerfed here

Greetings,
Some casters like mana rolls.
Everyone is complaining about their damage. This may be a clear indication they don't want people forcing their way to t15s as fast as possible without actually progressing t1-14. Hopefully we see/hear about a lot of people trying to force their way up in map tiers and constantly getting farmed by monsters they're not ready to fight.
Poe1 has a great means of map progression where you have to clear all of the maps. Sure there are strategies to cheese it faster but if you're just someone logging into the game you will naturally clear all the t1s then t2s t3s etc. This kind of system hasn't been implemented in poe2 yet. You just kind of jump as fast as you can.

People which did that are not hindered in any meaningful sense to not do that anymore... Nothing of the changed affect them at all. It only affects the people which want to play the game.

Leeching fill you up full life instantly every time you hit an enemy. That fact that there is no instant leech anymore and it is also capped at 40.000 dmg makes it useless now. I honestly have no idea how a melee warrior (with as you say, only around 3k life) will be playable now, since they basically removed life leech from the game.
To the part of having faith... well i have faith they want to make the game better... but there is a big difference in trying and succeeding. Since i feel like they are hard off track here, i give my feedback.

Leech is literally the only recovery of warriors at the moment, except you play with totems? Since the pressure of mods on gear don't allow us to stack life regeneration rate and having no possible way to stack enough mana regen or recovery, we are bound to use blood magic for nearly any archetype in that section.
I mean, sure in SSF standards if you never get to hard content and only play 4 mod rare maps and stuff that doesn't affect you much, but for people playing the game for real, it is a different conversation.

This is exactly right. The only advantage of Life over ES was that it was easy to heal back up. Now thats gone. Without a way to fill up your life on a regular basis life builds are pretty much dead.

LOL. Yes and the only people playing World of Warcraft "for real" is the ones competing in the race worlds first and the mdi.
You realize that is a tiny fraction of players right

-1
I am 100% on GGGs side for the first two points.
Caster stuff has no base damage on the weapons.
Leech was absurdly broken. Sustain nerf will make Boss fight balancing less one-shoty.
Third is still an unknown, as we do not know what's coming.
