GGG doesn't play its own game.

Meanwhile, we got nerfs to things that weren’t even that strong. Truly overpowered things like Cast on Critical and Comets barely received any nerfs at all. Fire skills have been complete garbage since 0.3, and Incinerate simply doesn’t work if you play Infernalist, an ascendancy that is clearly fire-themed. I could stay here all day talking about horrible skills and ascendancies, but that would take a huge amount of work because there are just too many of them.

" I think that GGG employees do play their game. But I think they are playing it with cheat codes, otherwise i do not understand how they can go for nerfs every update This is an Early Access game so it was bound to happen anyway. |

you are wrong heh, it is interesting hearing this interview after over a year of people talking about the problems and them never being addressed. Last edited by gr0o0ve#1473 on May 24, 2026, 9:20:36 AM

I think they play the game, just not in a party and only as ranged builds.

" Everyone has preferences therefore they are biased towards certain things. I believe that the people in charge of balance always, intentionally or not, always favor their preferred play styles. Is it professional? No. Is it expected? Yes. People like their stuff, and will do anything to keep it that way. |

They are just balancing the game. Focusing on adding content and getting the endgame to a better place is must more important than skill balance during this time of development. If they spend time balancing every skill that would take away from other parts of the game not being developed and that trade off is not worth it.
People can play other skills if something is out of balance and wait until the skill they want to use is in a better place. This already happens in every arpg, every season/league and always has. If you can't wait until your skill gets looked at, it may be best to take a break and come back later, but the overall quality of the endgame and community as a whole is more important than any skill balance or build variety right now. We are testing the game to get it ready for launch, when everything will hopefully be balanced. That's the entire point of EA and while giving feedback can help and everyone is entitled too, saying things like the devs don't play their game only make you look entitled and childish. " exactly right. cast on crit was extremely dependent on strong leech, it's going to have major sustain issues now |
|
" That's all kinda of the problem though. In early access the core of the game shouldn't be sidelined and considered less important than seasonal stuff. Early access is dragging on so much longer than it needs to because of it. We already had an acceptable endgame for just the core game. After the game goes live there will be plenty of time for additional endgame content through seasons. |
|
" I wouldn't expect too much in terms of balance : while PoE2 might get out of alpha a few seasons after «1.0», it will most likely be stuck in a perpetual beta, just like PoE1 has been all these years. |
