ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME. MUST READ!!! please.
" Lotta helpful responses you got from the gallery here pal. More or less deal with it. Lotta these lifers seem to be cowed into acceptance of this just horribly unfun side of this game. Now would be the time to demand change, in development...but nope, they're just gonna say that getting a 3rd party loot filter that you need to configure then update six times per season is just how it is, as if nothing can be done about it. Just get more stash tabs or stop looking at loot in a loot based game...wild that that's the answer. I'm with you though, if I thought this was a fun way to spend my time I'd go get a job in procurement or inventory management somewhere and get paid for it. |

I felt the same when first encountering the vast drops. As stated earlier a loot filter may help.
.... HOWEVER: I just wanted to mention literally the BEST thing ever for ARPGS, and that was RUTHLESS mode (POE1). This makes (among other things) drops very scarce and diffiuclty much harder. To me this is how a true ARPG should feel, and epic adventure... not this cheap sprint past mobs, 2 shot boss power-dopamine nonsense of more modern ARPG culture. The enjoyment is in the friction. People dont climb everest because its easy. Last edited by Ragestorm26#0930 on May 16, 2026, 12:50:35 AM

Ruthless mode is closer to the game PoE was initially. Bosses would destroy you, traps from the trials would destroy you, currency drops were rare. It's become so toned down over the years it's simple to make a character in a league and roll through the entire campaign solo.
PoE2 seems to be taking that same super easy mode path just through it's time in EA. |

Yea, there is pretty insane power creep as they add things. This taming of a boss for the Huntress ascendancy seems like it could have balance issues lol, but also pretty awesome too.
Having said that, the game at 0.1 was incredible. I was actually scared of enemies. I had to pay attention or it would brutally teach me a lesson. On hardcore, the lesson is very real, especially from the Monkey Boss in the jungle after a significant time investment. But I LOVED it. The challenge. The danger. The fear. GIVE ME MORE. I still get this from endgame in Path of Exile 2. I play HCSSF, so I am not fed items, which makes the game quite hard at higher map tiers. I LOVE THE GAME at this level. I use efficient builds, and the game difficulty feels great. I never use a build guide because, to me, that feels like cheating in a way. So my builds are not perfect, but as a veteran they are pretty solid, and you learn fast in hardcore because it stings when you die. I am just hoping that with all the new shinies in the new expansion, we do not end up with imbalance or too much power creep. As one example, in the recent league the Sorceress ascendancy was completely cracked. I stumbled upon it by accident, but after looking at the ladders and seeing all the Djinn specs, it was obvious how insanely overtuned that ascendancy was. I suppose this is all part of EA, so I just play along, roll a different class, and keep perspective that I am SO, SO, SO grateful we actually have a game like this to play, even in its imperfect state. So thanks to Grinding Gear Games for all the passion and hard work. Here’s hoping we do not drift too far toward the Diablo IV path of a loot conveyor belt, sprinting past content and one-shotting mobs. Last edited by Ragestorm26#0930 on May 16, 2026, 1:28:14 AM
