Promoting RMT in YouTube Videos - Zero Consequences
" Correct on GGG’s platforms, and that distinction matters, Baumi. It is even explicitly outlined in their ToS that sharing this kind of information or engaging in certain conduct is prohibited. But as you already discovered from the very first clause of the ToS, those terms are written around GGG’s services, not the internet as a whole. That is a very important factor, Baumi. A really big one, Baumi. So while someone obviously should not engage in that behavior for common sense reasons, YouTube is not GGG’s platform and operates under its own Terms of Service and enforcement standards. Unless the conduct itself creates a direct breach of Path of Exile’s ToS, such as RMT activity or other prohibited behavior connected to GGG’s services, there is generally no automatic extension of GGG’s rules onto unrelated platforms. That distinction is exactly why understanding the scope of a ToS matters, Baumi. Likewise, if the content actually violated YouTube’s own Terms of Service, then the videos would likely already have been taken down or the account itself would have faced termination or enforcement action. YouTube is generally quite strict when it comes to enforcing violations under its own platform rules. Separate platforms enforce separate agreements, and contractual scope does not automatically extend beyond the service it governs. That is the key factor here, Baumi. It seems a lot of you are arguing about how YouTube works, so I’ll give you some insight. I’m a partnered YouTuber who covers Path of Exile 2 and action RPGs.
The simple answer is yes, in theory, if a channel is promoting RMT and directly violates their terms of service, then yes, they could potentially get the channel or videos taken down. Now, I do not know how this is specifically affected in New Zealand since I’m from United States, and I don’t know exactly how their laws may affect this. But generally speaking, they do have a legal basis for takedowns against videos if they own the game and the videos are showing their IP while violating their terms of service or exploiting their ecosystem, which RMT pretty much does on all fronts. So in theory, if they wanted to put the effort forward, they could target YouTube channels that heavily promote or participate in it. Why they don’t do it more often, I’m not exactly sure, but that could be tied to their region and how their laws work. But once again, don’t quote me on that part specifically because I don’t know how their laws may affect them. |

These are good arguments discord & youtube is not path of exile but the king of rmt still got banned and his whole empire collapsed. so I wouldn't be surprised if GGG makes a statement about rmt build guides soon... cause its a issue that is just gonna keep on growing until they cannot avoid issue anymore.

" It was only a matter of time before a ban for RMT was issued, as consistent ToS violations tend to catch up eventually, the ban was most certainly not related to their Discord behavior, but rather GGG finally caught up with the ongoing RMT activity and was able to directly remove the main offender.
