Do people think that slapping a "1.0" on a game before it's finished is good?

Yeah i don't understand their reasoning for wanting to release 1.0 in 2026 no matter what

Take another year and polish the game, there are so many things that could be improved, i don't think they'll be able to fix everything in just 6 months

With all the stuff they're adding and reworked stuff it seems like it will be in a good place....

0.5 was an 80 minute presentation. I didn't stick around for the Q&A because I had things to do, but surely there were some nuggets in there.

1.0 should, at least in the context of the release schedule of path of exile 2, represent a complete campaign experience. They've already punched up the end game. Classes and skill gems get added regularly to poe 1 so I don't see that as a limiting factor for a version release. Thusly I'm going to be rating whether or not its "worthy" of a "1.0" marker based on if the campaign is (at least nearly) complete.

The part of my brain that handles corporate affairs notices that there is 5 months between 0.5 and exilecon and likely another month between exilecon and release which means they're going to have a need for additional monetization in the intervening quarter. You can have a down quarter, you can not have a nil quarter, doing that will get you a call from your corporate overlord.

Missing several classes, several weapons, dozen+ Ascendancy, an entire ascendancy trial.

Would be a joke if they try and ship the game as "launched 1.0 complete game" when it's barely even halfway done.

When did they say that? I watched the livestream and they announced 1.0 release for later this year... I would have thought all the planned but still missing content (acts, classes, weapon classes, trials) would be ready by then.

I didn't watch the ZiggyD part... is it there that they said 1.0 might not actually be "complete"?

Well a lot of people think that just because a game is new and has "2" at the end of it, then it must be better than the one that came before it with same name...so yeah, I'm sure there are a lot of people who will fall for the 1.0 marketing.

Sometimes i'm ashamed that there are players without cerebral thinking in this community....

Who said that the game it's not in a good position right now? It seems more than a good position to me!

They announced even some middle leagues between this time gap.

Until 1.0 they will be more than prepared because they listened to the constructive community feedback!
