Do people think that slapping a "1.0" on a game before it's finished is good?

If you are shipping a product and it's not finished, why not just wait until it's finished?
Why would you ship 1.0 when there are missing classes, archetypes, weapons, ascendancies, etc? Isn't that just a longer beta test with extra steps? ~ Seph Last bumped on May 8, 2026, 7:25:02 PM

Their probably doing it to get more player feedback as it will be F2P, But I agree completley its been my number one critique, we wan classes and more weapons!!!

it would be another 2-5 years then. its already been 2 years by the time they release 1.0 thats too long as it is for EA

The it will be another 5 years....
Don't release a partially complete product. ~ Seph

why? at least it will be free. if you have to buy it then i agree dont release unless its finished, but for a EA game 2 years is already too long. not everyone paid for EA key. these people want to play the game also, they waited long enough

" I dont see why it matters. The only difference for players is the entry fee going away. And poe isn't ever going to be 'finished'. PoE1 got a new ascendancy for the scion in 3.28 and they're still adding updates to its campaign. Please GGG, I need my sparkly crown MTX in PoE2.

They just said they might not even have the third trial of ascendancy in the game by "1.0" lmao how is that even 1.0?
Missing several classes, several weapons, dozen+ Ascendancy, an entire ascendancy trial. Would be a joke if they try and ship the game as "launched 1.0 complete game" when it's barely even halfway done. ~ Seph

Live service games are never finished.
A free to play game designed to be played indefinitely can technically go into the 1.0 version as soon as it has all the core features functioning and enough content to keep you busy for at least a month. Could have GGG handled it better and not over-promise? Absolutely, but as it stands now, the game could leave early access with this patch and it wouldn't make a difference for its future. |

There is a difference between a game being shipped as a "launch 1.0" product while it is missing crucial components, and a "evolving product" live service game.
Everything is a live service game these days. You cannot call a product finished and ready to launch when it's 65% of the way there.... ~ Seph

8 classes is kinda enough for a release imho... probably 9 by then.
