I got no issues with Duelist, it actually appeals to me as i enjoy 1v1 pvp games.

Theres plenty to choose from tbh:

Duelist,
Gladiator,
Swordsman,
Blademaster,
Slayer

and more creative ones:

Edgewalker,
Swordhand,
Bladebreaker,
Swordreaver,
etc.

It's not a hyper focus class concept. It's just the stats. A duelist is a melee (usually sword) STR + DEX character. Funny enough long ago I made a Mercenary class for D&D which was STR + DEX.

If they went by original D&D standards a Ranger would qualify.

I'd be more annoyed STR + DEX doesn't actually work due to their Armor system. Every Duelist takes Iron Reflexes just as every Armor/ES takes Divine Shield and Evasion/ES takes Ghost Dance.

Invoker's "and Protect me from Harm" is great for EV+Armor. I was just 97 with 30% chance to evade and 52% damage reduction on 1.5k health 2.7k mana and that was fine to t16 breach abyss maps.

It's less that people need any of these things and more than someone on the internet said so and so the sheep follow along.

You can also out damage Rakiata's flow with a pair of gloves, pen, and exposure but everyone has to have the lineage instead because builds online made them think they need it and they don't think for themselves.

7/10 on the ragebait. I will say while Duelist works fine as a class name and has been used in many RPGs...it is pretty open eneded, like dueling with what? Flintlocks? Daggers? Rapiers?

Agree with everyone who's commented it doesn't make a any sense in the current 1 player vs 100 mobs one shot screenwipe game though.

If you played and read the old description from the ship, you should understand that this is the perfect name and fits the setting.
