Can we have a Boss Practice Area?
|
there are times where i want to repeatedly test my skills in a specific boss fight to better learn their mechanics, or to see if my i would be able to take them at their different difficulty levels.
yet the process of mapping itself and paying to fight the bosses in a direct obstacle to trying to practice a fight needing to grind for shard to summon a boss to see if u can even attempt it. citadels needing to go between citadels the difference between the realm-gate bosses on normal cruel and the highest difficulty especially on ones like orlath where the shards themselves cost or sell for a fortune.. isn't something you want to "practice" with i think it would be nice to allow us to just "pick a boss.. pick a map lvl. pick a +1-4) on the map boss difficulty. and maybe pick modifiers from a map to increase it.. and just summon the boss in its appropriate arena.. to just test it. no currency required to enter, no drops or rewards for beating it. and a quick and easy "reset" button. there is no need for "those who can afford" it to be the only ones who can get the practice. like arbiter of ash does a wonderful job giving you infinite attempts the first try. why can we just have menu to test this. it shouldn't be too hard to implement. would just new a new UI interface. and spawn mechanism. and it would do wonders for those who want to try to improve or test their skills. " I support a target dummy, but allowing a player to summon a boss feels too much like a mobile game mechanic. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Apr 29, 2026, 8:37:23 PM

Should be pretty clear by now the only logical reason they have not put something like this or just a generic training dummy into the game already is because it would be too easy for people to identify and provide evidence for bugs in the game mechanics etc. that they would then rightly expect to be fixed in a timely manner. Don't see it happening, but hey...it'd be nice to be proven wrong on this one.

Boss - no.
Dummy with damage and dps stats - yes. |

The lowest tier of each pinnacle boss has infinite attempts
And you don't lose xp (at any tier). So if that is not enough practice area, what is? If the boss dies too fast, equip a worse weapon, or avoid attacking as much. |

" first off thats just wrong as far as i remember first time is 6 tries.. then 3.. then 1. ( although i guess i could be wrong and the 50 splinter is infinite.. its hard to lose by the time u get 50 splinters so idk) there is 50, 100, and 150 splinter fights for each boss sans arbiter which i haven't done past the initial fight to unlock rare tablets, and which ive pretty sure ive heard uber arbiter is 1 attempt ( although ive never tried it myself) also.. i dont see how anyone could consider this as me "asking for a dps test" no.. i want to learn the bosses mechanics. and there is absolutely no reasonable way for me to compare which moves are deadly and i need to dodge.. how many hits i can safely take and other important data from simple doing the campaign bosses again.. im not here to "dps check the boss" im asking so i can learn the fight mechanic.. which i never GOT to learn because this game is so offensively focuses that i kill them before i can learn there mechanics. nor do i have ANY idea wtf people on on about when talking about mobile shit. have u guys seriously never played games with training arenas before? it's not exactly uncommon, on things like assassins creed or god of war, type games and many games have started making accessibility options for players. for things like color blindless and stuff. a "test dummy" would be completely pointless.. im not checking my dps to compare epeen sizes... im checking the bosses moves and their damage compared to my defenses. i guess my damage to them is relevant to a limited degree. but ive never lost a fight because i "ran out of damage to deal". that means i want to be able to check ALL the bosses. see what their telegraphs for each move is. AND see which moves i can risk taking to the face and which are i need to dodge... something i cant tell if every single move the boss does is a fucking tickle because when i fight then im campaign i melt then in 5 seconds im OP af. how the hell am i supposed to know what deadly if NOTHING is and the only way top find out that a move is deadly is to get 1 shot by it after spending 150 spinsters and thats not something a "test dummy" is going to help with Last edited by SwiftKitten#3681 on Apr 30, 2026, 5:10:56 PM

I play in hcssf for every single initial boss attempt which I know is stupid af but I'm a sucker for punishment and I enjoy the adrenaline rush of novelty when a character is on the line.
Anyways, it's fine the first time, but the second time I don't usually care to throw away another character for fun and I would prefer to be able to understand and master a boss fight. So what I do is I mule over whatever I need to into the ssf league (suicide it on a freshly made level 1 char) and if it's shards - I just practice in ssf on the previously ripped character. If it's divines, I migrate things to trade and buy the shards to practice. Sometimes I have shards and stuff from previous leagues rotting in the standard hc/ssf stashes that I mule over the standard sc league and practice there on old characters that have the privilege of choosing gear from many stash tabs to re-gear or make similar to the current build I'm going to try it on in the current hcssf league. Anyways, it's another way to get some utility out of divines that drop in ssf for me and I know it's not a "practice dummy" exactly, more like a workaround strat for learning bosses while primarily playing hc but maybe it'll be helpful to someone. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either. Last edited by karsey#2995 on Apr 30, 2026, 5:29:02 PM
