So I just had this thought when logging into my account in path of exile 2, to check if something has been sold (I have stopped to play actively about a month ago)
Some things had sold and I got a couple of hundreds of divines for that
And in total I have almost 10,000 divine orbs.
So I thought, why does it have to be like this, that all of our currency always moves to standard league at the end of a new league, and inflate the standard economy every league more and more?
And let's be honest, I bet about 90 percent or more of all players that engage with new leagues, don't go back to standard league and play there. Maybe to test a build or two before the start of a new league but not like, actively playing it.
Some do, for sure. But most don't. And I also think most people don't care what happens with their leftover currency in standard.
So... How about a completely different and new approach to this?
Let us turn currency at the end of a league and/or the leftover currency in standard league into path of exile shop points, so players who have been playing active throughout the league and worked hard to obtain/craft items and farm currency and trade their stuff, they can be rewarded at the end with something from the path of exile shop?
I think it's a fun idea, and it would kind of add to the model of the game, not change it but give it a little adjustment.
What I mean by that, well, it would not be exactly play 2 earn, the basis still would remain free to play, but it would have some kind of touch of 'play 2 earn'.
While you would not gain money from playing it, instead you would gain points for microtransactions.
Instead of just getting points, every league could have pre-determined microtransactions for the sake of this concept.
And they could come in different tiers, we could think of it kind of like a battle pass.
Maybe Tier 1 to Tier 5. Or up to Tier 10. I don't know.
Tier 1: Exchange 100 divine orbs vs a small microtransaction that doesn't cost much.
Tier 2: Exchange 1000 divine orbs vs a microtransaction that cost a bit more.
Tier 3 Exchange 2000 divine orbs vs a microtransaction that cost more.
Tier 4 Exchange 3000 divine orbs vs....
Tier 5 Exchange 5000 divine orbs vs a microtransaction...
You get the idea. The amount of divine orbs can be very different from this example. And so can be the microtransactions. Maybe there could be a dev who will dedicate his work almost solely to this purpose, for creating specific league exchange microtransactions.

Wow, you really put much thought behind that 'awesome' comment, right?
A single account could not pass tiers multiple times for the same league.
And what the hell does a bot want with microtransactions? ...cool story bro

You don't seem to understand how accounts and/or ingame coins and/or bots work. Maybe put some more thought into it.

Thank you guys, such a blissful and encouraging community, full of 'positive' people.
I wonder where this game would be without you guys.
Probably on top.
But here we are, early access, you can't even make a suggestion without people putting everything you tell down, and try turning it into something miserable.
But keep being salty, I'm sure it helps your life, must be 'heaven'.

Not a single positive comment. Guess why: Because it's a crap idea.
Learn how to take criticism.
