Won't support GGG until they fix servers

By logging in you are supporting GGG since you count towards their player base numbers.
If you really want to stick it to them, stop playing. I poop, therefore I am.

In that sense you’re also indirectly supporting GGG just by posting on the forum and adding traffic and engagement within their own space.
That said nobody should be telling people not to buy packs or not to play the game or anything along those lines. That is pretty excessive. If someone is unhappy with something then it is usually better to just move on and find something else instead of turning it into a whole boycott campaign over it. Either way GGG is going to be fine no matter what. Any boycott driven by spite is pretty ineffective because for every unhappy customer there are plenty of happy players who keep playing the game and are willing to spend money on it for extra enjoyment. And if you’re having issues and you’re in the EU it is also worth checking your own connection first since EU network providers can be pretty garbage at times and that is not something GGG can really control. GGG had changed their net code (Client<->Server) at 3.19.2 massively.
They shifted workload from client cpu and probably server too to client gpu. That needed a lot more client RAM (including gpu) and much more data traffic. That was what GGG told us - and as I see that's correct. They told us too they wanted to reduce server workload. But they didn't tell us why that was necessary. I guess they just want to save money! I am a victim of this change with 8 GB RAM and an older gpu. Before 3.19.2 all was (nearly ever) fine even with 10-12 open browser tabs. Since that I have to kill all browser tabs when I play a map to get a few 100s MB more free RAM. (Can't even start PoE when there is another progam that uses more than about 1-2 GB RAM.) At Mirage (and other) league start PoE was not playable, visiting a town took 30-45 sec. I could and can see big performance differences when playing at server "rush hours". Though it is bad at other times sometimes too. So server workload matters! |
