Lightless Astrolabe and failing abysses in layouts that are poor for abyss monster spawns
|
Sometimes abyss pits put themselves into a places where it struggles to spawn monsters and you only get a trickle of them. This can cause the abyss to 'fail' because you weren't killing enough monsters. If you have an astrolabe and fail even a single abyss in a map it counts as failing the shaped region objective and you don't get the completion bonus.
This issue of abyss monster spawns has been an issue for a long time, but you can mitigate it by running maps that have as few small obstacles or walls as possible. However with the shaped regions, you are incentivized to run possibly bad layouts to try and juice up the good ones, or you use the keystone and can't control the collapse of your shaped region. Either way this effectively just means that some amount of maps in your shaped region are just going to be lost; either by the keystone, or by abyss 'fails' that are outside of your own control. Here's an example of a map where the abyss pits struggled to spawn monsters when they got stuck in a alcove and we eventually failed simply because it was only spawning a trickle of monsters Bug Report ID: #3,359,502,445 Last bumped on Mar 8, 2026, 9:01:53 PM
