Why does the game force you to make a build that 1 shots the screen?

I don't really understand why so many things get nerfed when the true endgame literally requires a build that 1 shots the screen.

Doesn't it seem kind of stupid?

I feel like they should either allow skills to be more powerful or tone down the damage in endgame because if you're not 1 shotting the screen your char can die in 1 second to any number of things regardless of defense. It just takes the right combo of map mods or monster mods and any build is toast. It doesn't make sense to expect people to use "combo" skills or anything of the sort when the endgame is so overtuned.

I didn't fully realize this until I actually made a screen 1 shot oil barrage character. Got it to 98. Could probably get to 100 but I feel like the grind isn't worth 2 more points. The only reason I got to 98 was because everything dies before it can do anything. That's literally the ONLY way to play endgame but they nerf the builds that do it constantly.

Someone make this make sense.

It doesnt
Mash the clean
It does.

Wow you're easy to argue with.
Weird, both my builds dont 1 shot the screen.

It doesnt x2
Mash the clean
I logged in to say I think it's funny—the people who think you don't need 1-shot builds at the stage you're in. If you aren't clearing the screen, you're simply never going to level high enough to ever reach lvl 97+. And you'll absolutely never cap within a league at that pace.
I'm a skeptical user and borderline hater.
Build doesn't matter other than screen clear. No amount of defense will keep you alive because Jonathan has designed a one-shot game. You need max damage and nanosecond perfect dodgeroll, that's the entire strat of this game.

You need damage damage damage. The game is designed that way. It's a one-shot game except they think you have time for a 3-5 button combo, lol.
Console loot filter for POE2 Please!
Just play POE 1 to find the answer.

No matter what Jonathan says or does, he simply cannot steer POE 2 in a different direction. POE 1 is all he knows, even if he wishes he knew something new.

For me POE 2 ends at the end of the campaign. Once end game starts it's POE 1 all over again, but with a handicap in the form of the clunky combo based skill system they half cobbled up together in desperation to call it "slow and meaningful combat"....lol.

awwwe man... I'm brand new and was totally enjoying the campaign.
although it is really hard and a slow grind I do enjoy the gameplay.

this talk of poe1 bothers me... I forget the exact string of words
I've heard used to describe it exactly "poe 1 is like flying through
maps with a supersonic jetfighter armed with nuclear weapons"

that was and is sorta fun in poe1.... but thats why im here now.
WAS sorta fun. Isn't anymore.

I agree. I still like POE 1 to be on the faster side, within reason ofc.
But I expected POE 2 to go another direction. Unfortunately POE 1 players asking for POE 2 to be the same because brainrot is the new meta, and GGG half clueless and half wanting to appease the POE 1 crowd made POE 2 some sort of Frankenstein's monster.
There are tons of people who get 97+ and even 100 with non screen clearing builds. Go look at the ssf leagues on ninja where they can't just trade for super rare giga-OP gear, it's basically full of them.
Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.
