Please make all skills useful

I have been trying out all skills. I hope Grinding Gear Games can work on the usefulness of all skills.

For some skills it can only be used in specific situations and under specific conditions. That becomes a problem for build variety and choice. This limits options of what you can use as your different active skill combinations.

Certain skills I thought would be useful ended up being completely pointless to invest in as they were not useful in actual combat. It would have been better off if I did not waste the skill gem on it. Other skills I cannot even use due to the specific requirements not being met.

For example, a skill I thought would be useful in a boss battle needed specific requirements that made me unable to actually use it. For this example, let us use Profane Ritual. You cannot use this skill unless you have a corpse. You can gain a power charge too, but there are not that many Occult skills that the power charge can be used with. This made it useless since there was no corpse to use it on. This made me have to choose another skill to take as an active skill. This would have been okay if there was a lot of choices but there are not that many other alternatives to choose from that would actually be useful.

Some skills do not add to the gameplay or combat and there is not enough variety of skills for there to be skills that are just there for specific usage. This is why many people use the same skills and builds. There are not that many that work in all situations. Some skills just offer very little for the investment.

It's impossible from your post to assess whether this is a skill definition problem, or a player ability problem.

Feel like they're aware of this and try to fix some every update.
It get better but it's far to be perfect yet for sure.

Yo relax GGG and Johnathan himself is trying to make parry work, until then other skills can wait.
Exploit early exploit often bozos.
we have only one Miss World champion every year, no matter how beautiful others are.

same to skills.
I agree with the sentiment. The narrow and weak skill selection is a big problem, at least during the campaign and especially when you are just learning the game. It would be less of a problem if skill gems, especially supports, were more plentiful during the campaign.

I personally experienced this with frost-bolt, snap, resonating shield, storm lance, bonestorm, profane ritual and hexblast.

What I've learned is a lot of these skills often require specific setups to be useful in, and you have to do a lot of experimentation to find the setup that works. But in campaign and early league, you don't have the resources to do this experimentation, so it just feels bad.

I think GGG risk the New player experience with the way things are. Part of the reason I stopped playing POE1 was because the first two characters I played weren't fun. It almost happen with poe2, but luckily I played monk as my second character.

I don't know what they are going to do. Hopefully they figure it out.

Also agree.

Although if there is anything that is difficult to do with this game, its balance it.

At least they have that on their side.

Especially when introducing new things all the time.
I wouldn`t be too worried about that. I mean it has to be their end goal to make build variety wider than currently is. We can be a bit sceptical seeing how long it took to address deadeye case or still takes to address coc comet but on the other hand they managed to brick hexblast within first major patch.

Real question is what are current priorities and most probably skill balance is not one of them. I`d say that as long as campaign and endgame are not ready for 1.0 we can be ok with amount of supports, uniques and patchnotes we currently receive.

make skills fun to use!
I appreciate that we are not significantly punished for a long duration
for choosing wrong. I'm new and have been picking almost every skill to
see what it does. I can get away with that. this might be a newb friendly
approach while they experiment with skills, knowing some will faceplant irl.
