What's the reasoning behind dying against a boss bleaching your map?

I remember any death on map did that in 0.1, so I'm grateful for this change, but why? What's the reasoning behind this penalty?

Is it to incentivize the players to fight the boss last? But why keep the bleached map then? You could have the map marked as "failed" and become traversable anyway on the atlas.

The one thing I genuinely hate in this game is deaths completely resetting things like this. Die in campaign and the thing you died to (and probably want to learn to fight!) evaporates into thin air. The map thing is like a weird half solution I don't understand at all either.

It's at least partly an anti-cheat mechanic: to stop players from repeatedly farming something special by dying on purpose. That's how some people built temples fast, earlier in the league.

bad developing. this is how they work. search for easiest way and do it.
They love to penalize people for just about anything in this game. Almost to the point where it's toxic.
If you chose to do the boss first, then your intention was not to do rest of map anyways. If rest of the map is important then take your sweet time completing rest of the map and then do the boss.
It's the cost/risk of rushing and doing the boss first.

As someone else said, I think this is a quick fix to some exploit. They just didn't care to think about better ways to prevent said exploit, and this solution actually fell in line with their "let's punish players for choosing PoE2" mentality, so everyone wins.
Its a bug they fixed in 0.2, still im game tho
