Feedback on campaign
|
The campaign is too long, but that's not the main feedback. There's a huge disparity between campaign gameplay and endgame. What do you want your game to be? Early on in the campaign, the gameplay is "methodical", troddingly slow, and severely limited in interesting interactions. The lack of support gems, the lack of gem sockets, interesting skills locked until later, a huge reliance on items for character power, etc. Whereas ALL of that is solved late in the campaign or once you enter maps. You have a lot of uncut support gems, you start ignoring lesser jewellery orbs, you unlock all your skills, and at that point you should have decent items. The end result is a major disparity between how the game feels early on and at the endgame.
I understand character progression is important. The feeling of gaining power is the core of RPGs. However, the disparity is too big. While the endgame is not as zoomy as POE 1, it still feels like it to a certain extent while POE2's early game feels frustrating. The feedback? Narrow the gap. Increase rare item drop rates in the campaign. Drop more skill gems and support gems in the campaign or let us buy them. Drop more lesser jewellery orbs in the campaign or add them as quest rewards. Drop the level requirements of skill gems so they can be accessed earlier than they are accessible now. Oh, and please make the maps smaller. Even a tiny bit? Last bumped on Mar 2, 2026, 1:12:21 PM

Ya so I agree, you don't see any meaningful improvements till T15+ onwards where at that point shits just overtuned and really difficult, not a fun level of difficult just overtuned to the point broken builds/skills are the only ones who can compete
+ as far as the zoom zooming goes I really gotta disagree with that, Its atrocious how unbalanced this game is and what it allows https://youtu.be/elgOMTX85xk That should be enough ^ Try leeching and you'll see how atrocious the state of game is Only spellcaster's can actually farm at a decent rate due to broken ES scaling and all the broken uniques headhunter + other uber uniques, like some uniques should have a certain limit different categories same as how they changed support gems with categories to fix this issue You should be able to clear fast, maps should be smaller, then shit would be even more broken and easier for these unbalanced classes, horrible state of game RN hence the horrible reception to season 4 and negative reviews on steam, But why listen to your player base? you know the play testers who paid into this EA game, why listen to play testers lol Baffling decisions all around, doesn't matter what you say on these forums either, you're just wrong according to everyone who takes the time to read this and reply skill issue :) Last edited by Jobama#9902 on Jan 18, 2026, 4:50:43 PM

Absolutely, the core problem with the game in it's current state is that it doesn't respect a players time.
The campaign needs to be significantly cut back, Act 1 length for each act and substantially increase the rewards across the board. The campaign itself is laughably easy, just roll when the big guy does the overly dramatised wind up.. thats it, thats the entirety of the "difficulty" It's just that the campaign is tedious, unenjoyable, and unrewarding. |

I'll bump this up with some thoughts
1.It takes too much time to finish the campaign. Maps are too big, too much walking. 2.Certain skills works poorly in the campaign. Sorceress is especially weak first 3 acts at least. So you barely have any choice other than rely on something that is currently broken or deal low damage (which equals - die often) 3.Insane scarcity of early currencies and socketables.Socketables especially is a problem. Often what happens is, you hesitate to put a socketable on gear because the current is not good but you stuck with that piece of gear because you have nothing better to upgrade. So you holding the socketables for "better times" 4.Crafting is insane RNG and often just waste of currency. In 0.3 we had an Abyss mechanic and early ribs/jawbones giving a good help with fixing the gear. But right now Abyss almost not exist in the campaign and Temple is just ain't it. 5.Vendors mostly sell trash that is not worth to fix with crafting. Ground loot is just garbage. 99% of the time you getting stuff that is not for your current build. Here is your spears, scepters, maces, but not weapon type you need. It feels especially awful during the league start. 6.Because of the issues number 4 and 5 you quickly realize that Trade is the best solution for upgrades. So it means that current systems of ingame progression just doesn't work. 7.Viper Naputzi in Act 3, still the hardest fight in the entire campaign. I am not joking. 8. Stones of Serle boss fight in Ogham's Interlude is insane as well. The boss dealing too much damage and got insane mobility. Easily the most difficult fight among the entirety of the Interludes. Also this map having too much monsters that not only fast but swarms you often. Overall the campaign feels like a bad chore instead of fun and memorable adventure as devs want it to be. When I finish the campaign I don't feel excitement. Just a big relief. Finally I am free from this insanity and can start my own adventure. Last edited by default_mp3#9394 on Mar 1, 2026, 8:19:05 AM

Once you reach endgame and farm with 1 character enough, you have more than what you need if you replay the campaign. It's kind of the same thing. You just have to finish the campaign on 1 character and then your next playthrough is a walk in the park.
I agree about map sizes in some cases. My main issue is with item drops. The market is trash for low level items, even the bosses drop trash items. God forbid someone decides to play solo self mode and requires minoxidil after balding. Something is really fishy about the friction for looting and item gameplay design in general. Similar to the complaints about not being able to use portal in Leagues VAAL Temple. It's like they intentionally throw a bunch of trash loot at you, expect you to not want to look through it, or expect you to waste your time and strain your eyes to look through all of it, Then hope that you bring nothing back with you. How can you be excited about an item you never knew was there? because you'll never find it, if you refuse to waste your time sifting through the hundreds of trash items to find it. For a game that prides itself on itemization, the gameplay and act of looting itself is abominable. How can we have a bustling economy with fair prices, enjoy finding items to sell, If the friction for looting is so bad, and players opt to buy items on the market instead of looking at their own drops. Campaign (incl. ascendany trials) is what stops me trying out other classes and builds. I would feel like, but then I think on the Campaign, am am like "hell nah!"

Campaign is literally the best part of the game right now. It's the endgame what becomes boring very quickly.

" I agree that I enjoyed the campaign the first 2-3 times. So its not bad done in general for the inital experience, there are some memorable moments. But after leveling quite a few characters it feels such a slog. I cant even say exactly why, but I dont feel bad about leveling in POE1, also after many characters. " I dunno. I play campaign 2-4 times per league and still enjoy every single moment. Actually the more I play it the more I enjoy it because my knowledge of the game increases with every playthru ane each of my chars is a little stronger than the one before. It's the same as in original PoE. I never really understood players who just want to skip the whole thing into boring and repetitive endgame. Last edited by Sakanabi#6664 on Mar 1, 2026, 2:17:39 PM

" Yeah I like playing through the campaign as well. Hopefully they never add the option to skip through the campaign. The long campaign and some large maps can cause fatigue though. There are a few things GGG can do to streamline and improve it. Players just need to be patient and maybe in a couple weeks they will hit endgame. It's a long journey to level a character though, especially for someone who plays the game only a few hours a day, It could take a really long time.
