Mapping is total waste of time this league except crystal farms for temple ofc..
With fully juiced giga rarity maps you drop maybe 1 div every 2-5 maps. in temple you get atleast 50 divs from ONE run
I don't get it. Why does that make mapping a waste of time?
Do you mean that the purpose of the game is to get as many divines as possible? Why's that?
Being able to print tons of currency in temple made everything in game super expensive
I just looked at top tier withered wand and it's half cheaper on the league than on standard; plus you don't need a top tier wand to do all the content in the game. 1 div gets you T2 spell level and chaos damage, with good cast speed and extra damage gain rolls.
I don't think there's any other purpose to the most costly stuff than to do content, that you already can do on much cheaper gear, increasingly fast.

The temple is not only about divines tho. U're getting almost everything u need to upgrade ur character, T1/T0 uniques, greater and perfect currency, tons of 82 bases to craft the best items ect. and the few things u can't get, u can just buy with the divines that drop. That's why running maps is a waste of time compared to running good temple setups.
/edit: Additionally, u're not forced to run awful map layouts.
So you're saying that if you aren't getting good rates of top uniques, g/p currencies, l82 bases etc, then you're wasting your time playing?
So the purpose of the temple is to maximize your drop rates for currency and bases and top uniques, so that you can kit your character up with even stronger gear, so that you can run the temple even faster, so that you can get even more currencies, bases and top uniques, so that you can kit your character up even better, so that you can run the temple even faster? And that is not wasting your time?

Nope, what I'm saying is that the fun in an ARPG for me is improving my character. When there's two options and one is by far the faster one than the other, it's just common sense which one to use. The second option would be a literal "waste of time" imo. Especially if the faster option is also more enjoyable.
The second part of ur question, yes I'm running the temple to get to run the temple even faster, that's what ARPGs are. That's having fun playing, which inherently is a waste of time if u wanna call it that. But the cool thing about the temple aswell is, that it also scales with ur progress. So when progressing my temple I'm forced to upgrade my character to keep up with the strength of the enemies. Right now that's the only endgame activity in PoE2 where that's possible, because maps stop progressing after 8mod with 3 rare tablets for the most parts (which are ridiculously easy for good builds)

Sorry for the snarkiness above.
The actual point I wanted to make was that ultimately, if one doesn't like the temple, but likes running maps or like, is weird enough to like running sekhema, then it's not a waste of time to run those.
You'll improve your character more slowly, that's true for sure. But if your fun isn't directly tied to the pace at which your character improves, as long as they do improve, then that's not a problem.
Personally I don't like the temple and don't run it at all. I don't really feel forced to either, since I don't care about my character power once it reaches a threshold where I can comfortably do all pinnacles and all league mechanics; which can be reached without hundreds of divs.
I do agree thou that the temple does have nice progress in that it scales to your character level, and maps don't. Hopefully over time they can figure out additional mechanics that scale further than the maps do.
Waiting for delve specifically.

No problem, obviously for people who enjoy mapping more than the temple it's not a waste of their time. The main purpose is enjoying the game.
The issue is that the temple right now is way too good in too many aspects of the game, or the rest of the game is not good enough in terms of progression and deterministic goals.
I think GGG made a big blunder with this leagues mechanic, but they also should get a good set of data in what people enjoy and what keeps them playing.
Hopefully they will apply that knowledge to future league mechanics like Delve or their reworked Atlas. (waiting for Delve aswell and I hope they don't pull the recombinator treatment on that) ;)
