Poe2 mapping

Ok
I have run thru the campaign several dozen times. I get to maps.. I can't. I did 10. And I am out. Why? Unlike the campaign, there's no direction. That we don't have a craft table means we are looking to trade for gear.. resistance balance is brutal with dropped items. Sockets shouldn't be for resistance. But hey. What do I know. 900 hours trying to like the end game. And can't. At this stage I'm doubting whether ggg knows how to make a game. So many things I see wrong :( hope the next update can fix this. I HATE getting to maps and feeling utterly lost. No direction. Nothing. I found it happening in act 4. But not to same extent. I did 1 stack of delirium tablet things. And tapped out. Didn't get a map 2 to drop til end of the 10. Wow. So much fun. Honestly without the ability to craft red on gear and leave sockets for something more it's not a fun thing. Having to waste sockets for res feels bad. Last bumped on Jan 12, 2026, 10:19:37 AM

The core gameplay "loop" - which is run a zone, kill monsters, obtain loot, incrementally improve character, repeat - is currently there for us to give ourselves direction while engaging with the loop.
When you have no goals to imprint onto the loop, I can understand how it feels quite directionless. I suggest giving yourself some endgame goals - beat t4 pinnacle, trialmaster, zarokh, atziri, kulemak, olgoth, make it to level 90, make a certain build idea work, etc. Otherwise you're going to have to accept that this is a beta and the endgame is currently mostly there to provide the loop and we're the ones who have to give ourselves direction. They have mentioned improving the "direction" of the endgame and improving it with further updates but honestly it kinda sounds like you might not really enjoy or be interested in the core gameplay loop this game offers, which is fine - a game by "grinding gear games" isn't going to be for everyone. |

man poe2 atlas is really that bad. mapping is dead.
people prefer now to run maps without tablets rush vaal and go play temple. Doing maps is waste of time at this point. |

" That's because the temple provides what maps don't, a clear goal and progression path. It might take a very long time to set the temple up, but u can feel every room u successfully add to ur snake. In mapping, u just don't feel anything. Sure the loot might increase a little bit when adding additional tablets from getting 1-2 exalts to 2-3 per map, but that's it. Mapping only gets good when u're using very specific tablets in niche ways such as farming Amanamu abyss mobs, otherwise it's just rng upon rng. U might get a good omen from ritual, but u might also get nothing for days on end. Even the Amanamu tech is pretty reliant on rng and it's not fun to execute aswell. Mapping is total waste of time this league except crystal farms for temple ofc..
With fully juiced giga rarity maps you drop maybe 1 div every 2-5 maps. in temple you get atleast 50 divs from ONE run |

I think it's totally OK to not enjoy the end game and to pop out of the league once you've hit the end game boredom. Nothing wrong about that.
The end game in games like this are bound to be about repeating the same content again and again and again and again, with ever diminishing returns. There's no real alternative. You can't keep piling up campaign-grade content to the game and you can't keep inventing an endless amount of new power curve thresholds for players to work towards. Myself, I play on HC with fairly simple goals; I want to do all the pinnacle bosses and Arbiter on at least the second difficulty. Then when I've died a bunch of times in late game - whether before or after my goals were reached - I get bored, don't want to start a new character, and call it quits. I don't feel bad about that. To me that's what PoE1 and 2 are. For the crafting - there's certainly ways for you to get gear without using trade. Lots of SSF players successfully get decent gear without any trade whatsoever. You can e.g. guarantee two good resistance mods on a ring by finding/crafting a base with at least one good resistance roll and then use an essence for a 2nd good resistance. You can even almost force a 3rd resistance with Abyss. I don't think they should add significantly more deterministic crafting for end-game items than what we now have. A bit more deterministic maybe, but not too much. If they do, crafting just becomes too simplified and would lack as an equally meaningful currency sink and as a similarly skilled activity as it now is. About a crafting bench/table - I think what would be kinda cool is if they eventually added a crafting bench that lets you only add low tier modifiers to an item. So if you have 3 good rolls on an item, you can then force it to have 3 good mods but of a low tier. Could also make it so that after using the crafting bench on an item, it can't be modified further; or perhaps can only be modified by the crafting bench. Purpose there being that you can't fill up e.g. prefixes or suffixes via it and then use exalt/desecration. In early game when you have only a few tiers of mods available, it could be limited to like only specific type of mods. |

" I don't get it. Why does that make mapping a waste of time? Do you mean that the purpose of the game is to get as many divines as possible? Why's that? Last edited by tzaeru#0912 on Jan 12, 2026, 9:13:07 AM

" Being able to print tons of currency in temple made everything in game super expensive |
|
" The temple is not only about divines tho. U're getting almost everything u need to upgrade ur character, T1/T0 uniques, greater and perfect currency, tons of 82 bases to craft the best items ect. and the few things u can't get, u can just buy with the divines that drop. That's why running maps is a waste of time compared to running good temple setups. /edit: Additionally, u're not forced to run awful map layouts.
