Insta Buyout is terrible
" oh trust me, if GGG did that, you would be here complaining about how you can never win auctions because some one came in at the last minute and sniped it before you could get it. that is literally where the term "Auction Sniping" Came from. what people do is wait until the last 10-15 seconds and than snipe in their offers so you cant do anything about it you cant snipe an auction if its on buyout. " First of all seller can set minimal price, so it will never sell lower than that. Secondly, if nobody bids on an item then it is shit and so-called sniper can take it (assuming he's ready to pay set price). But if an item is actually good, then you'll get plenty of bids from potential buyers. Waiting for the last second would still be a viable strat to snanch the item, but you'd have to compete with others not just "snipe it for as low as possible". And if you actually want it, you might wanna pay some extra to push competitors out. Anyway competitive nature of the auction will not allow a good item to be sniped for pennies right away. The way campaign should be played by your second and any subsequent characters: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3772827

" Another fool that knows nothing about my setup and thinks it knows everything about how computers work. My game IS on an SSD. Talking about bots when this thread is about fixing hostage loading screens due to realm switching is dumb anyways, but it's not surprising seeing dumb people get stuck on dumb things, bots are going to exist anyways, it's GGG's job to take care of them. This game has been plagued by terrible antic trading systems for years, and this new system is no different. Premium stash tabs were horrible, "instant buyout" is a little bit better, maybe in 50 years we'll reach 2010 standards of gaming Last edited by niniPOE#3939 on Jan 12, 2026, 7:17:45 AM

It will never get better as long as the game is balanced around trade.
Trading options should be the solution to the problem of bad rng of drops and crafting. Instead the drop rates and crafting rng is balanced in such a way that it necessitates trade in the first place. And since trade is then mandatory it generates all the pitfalls of an unregulated market: scams, cornering the market, people playing the market instead of the game, etc. And everyone has to participate because something that should be an add-on to help you out with bad luck has been elevated to the primary gear aquisition mode of the game. The droprates of the good Omens and Orbs shouldn't be balanced in such a way that the blasters and exploiters can't craft perfect items easily, it should be balanced in such a way that Joe Shmo get to use a few dozens of them every season to play around with semi-deterministic crafting. We regular players got a taste of that in 0.3 with homo slams. There was no reason to scrap that outside of "it's to easy to craft good items", i.e., it invalidated trade as primary mode of gear aquisition. Well I suggest an auction option for items, you can set the starting bid and the countdown timer for the last bid. This way bots have to fight over each other when trying to snipe mispriced items.
Exploit early exploit often bozos.

I'm still a bit on the fence myself if the current system in terms of increased convenience was really a good thing. Fast, unrestricted trade is problematic in video games and has a lot of unintended side-effects.
That trade is now even more central to the play and so much more convenient than before has at least the following problems: 1. It's super easy to buy extremely strong campaign and mid-late game gear. It trivializes the content for players on trade. This can behoove GGG to make the campaign and maps harder, but if they do that, then SSF players and players who don't want to do much trading get "punished", so to speak. 2. The economy is even more inflatory and unstable than before. That's something that a lot of players already complain about. Luckily I play on HC where the effect is much smaller, but still. 3. It's easier to make bots for the current trade system. Before, bots would have to be able to react to whispers and to finish up the manual trade screen. Now they just put the gear into the merchant tabs and done. 4. Increasingly central trade means that RMT is increasingly incentivized. RMT has a ton of its own bad sides which I wont go to here; I think it's quite well understood that 3rd party RMT is not a good thing for video games. " You can convert premium tabs to merchant tabs: https://pathofexile2.com/my-account/manage/merchants-tabs I was a bit surprised when I was told of that. It doesn't seem to be well advertised of a feature. I was also a bit surprised that GGG implemented it all. I would have imagined that making players buy merchant tabs is a good source of additional revenue and I'd considered it quite acceptable too, as at the end of the day, GGG needs to pay their +200 employees to keep working on PoE1 and 2. " Yes, I know and I converted what I could, but I still have plenty of premium tabs (quads and normal) that are useless now. They don't allow to convert just any premium tabs which seems a bit weird but that's not the topic. As I said before, nobody buys in person anymore. So people who trade are forced to use this shitty system where we have to go into someone's realm to buy stuff. It's not a problem all the time, but I'd rather do something else than be stuck (forced to leave the game) for 2 min while the servers load. There's no reason for this to happen, at least let players get instanced inside of their realm when they visit your hideout for ange purposes. Or just let them buy directly from the site in one click and be done with this. |

Just add a "leave hideout" button for the controller, and I am happy. Having to find the waypoint everysingle time or having to type /hideout is just hedious
