So this is what Chris was talking about then?

https://www.twitch.tv/fubgun/clip/MoldySparklingRatPipeHype-FYpQc7e_3EtZ8CCv

Fubgun just get maps from a viewer, after asking for them explicitly. Ask chat if he should delete the currency the guy won't accept and then just writes it off like he isn't exploiting his influence for that good ol' economic advantage.

And the timeout for talking about it:

No, Chris was talking about the reverse. Where a streamer gives assets/services away to viewers in exchange for viewership/subs. GGG sees that as transactional and do not approve.

"Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."
yes this is exactly it. Chris stepped away from GGG so he could watch POE happenings from the shadows and make videos regarding current POE patch notes/issues/drama

He talked about both directions.
Playing with fans is ok. Trading is fine. Donating your divs when you quit the league to the streamer is iffy. Giving away free services is a no no.

Maybe, but "Hand outs" are really difficult to avoid.
Viewers can see what streamers sell and just buy there overpriced junk, happens once in a while that some viewer buys whole tabs empty because it's "funny" to see all those "item has sold" messages on stream
I've never watched any people making videos about how they play games, yet I see them mentioned here all the time. Why do they occupy your mind so much?

He spoke about it from both angles, and he even admitted that this sort of thing is quite difficult to moderate. It is possible though, but you'd need an explicit team on the dev side to only focus on that; and GGG clearly has no interest in doing that.

I think the worst part of his video is while he highlighted it as a problem didn't actually have a way to solve it.

To me it seems like the "trade first" game design is hitting significant speed bumps with the reality of modern gaming that Chris can't find a way to solve. His design philosophy is to just idolize D2 and perceive it as flawless. Even in D2 there was still rampant RMT but the proliferation of e-celebs didn't really exist, or at least did not exist as it does now. RMT has gotten way more sophisticated as well.

Locking trade only to a the async trade system doesn't even really solve these problems cause you could just put up a 1 ex item for like 100 div, no one in their right mind would buy it but the RMT seller could still find the item on trade and buy it at a rip off price. Same with fans of a streamer.

To justify RMT in a digital game, capitalism as a system operating within a digital game was something I could never have imagined before PoE2, and now here we are, talking about "services" and the like in a game, in a reality where people are literally working their hearts out in mines somewhere to make this happen, and the very thought that the working class exists to make this possible makes me deeply sick.
