[Suggestion] Duelist Class - Consider Bard Ascendancy
|
In an interview, Jonathan mentioned PoE2 is planned to have swords before it's officially released by end of 2026 (hopefully). As swords belong to the unannounced Duelist class, I would like to suggest GGG considers a Bard Ascendancy.
The Bard would be a combination of sword skills with "magical inspirations," which the Bard plays a musical tune from a lute (song skills) that grant temporary buffs to you and your allies. ![]() Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Feb 24, 2026, 11:16:19 PM Last bumped on Mar 1, 2026, 8:12:54 AM

" Luvs me some Bard action!!!! +100 |

" Agreed, I've always loved the lore and mechanics of Bards giving bonuses to allies with bardic inspiration, etc. I think it would make for an excellent ascendancy. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Jan 1, 2026, 10:47:39 AM

Assuming we get Duelist class in 0.5, hoping to see a Bard ascendancy.

+1 up

" It's funny Bard is such an iconic class/sub-class, but feels like it doesn't show up in many games. I wonder why, but probably because a music-based class could be difficult to implement? Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Feb 25, 2026, 11:30:37 AM

+1 I`d love to see bard ascendancy. It would make me seriously rethink plans for 0.5 starter.
My only concern is it would probably be another ascendancy with <1% rate as long as it sticks to typical bard archetype. --- Una`s Lute foreshadowing Bard as Renly`s Tools foreshadowed Smith of Kitava :D? Last edited by SalamiHaze#9389 on Feb 25, 2026, 3:55:31 PM

Yes.
The class shall give 2H-Lute that grants 50% increased Spell AOE. No other weapons or shields are available. Just a plain old lute. |

Should call it 'troubadour' and pattern it off how that was done in pillars of eternity, with the recitations and lingering phrases etc.

" Interesting, never thought about that, but does make sense. |
