Do we need cooldowns, spirit, ammunition, charges, rage, glory, fuel, infusions, combo, and energy?

GGG is slowly killing freedom of experimenting and build diversity (well kinda pretty much is at this point), everything is railroaded to a specific playstyle that THEY want YOU to play. And i doubt it will get better, PoE2 is just something else, honestly an abomination of a game that tries so hard to be a successor to PoE1. Everything this game offers, skills, supports, "complexity" it just falls off short and there is a very loud majority that don't like what is happening with this game.

very loud MINORITY.

the majority like POE2 more than POE1

Sure buddy. That's why Mercenaries was their most successful league of all time

I think there are a lot of good points in this thread. On this though, playing my wolf is a one button build on endgame other than bosses. Even during campaign Lunar Swipe and a couple Shreds was killing pretty much everything I came across. Lunar Blessing has been a permanent uptime buff since the campaign with the right supports. So the only time I use all 6 buttons is during bosses.

I am not saying that you cannot turn wolf into one button. I am saying when they built the kit the full combo I laid out was what they WANTED players to do. And that is a problem in an ARPG with zerging packs of mobs in end game.

Most of these "resources" don't interact with anything outside their bubble. So, if you want to use a skill that uses any of these resources, you only have one or two methods to generate the resource, and the resource can only be spent by using a couple different skills.

This is why there is effectively no creativity in combining skills in PoE2. Everything is railroaded by GGG, leaving no mechanical creativity for the player to express.

Sadly I can only assume this is by design. Class-less systems are notoriously difficult to balance but not impossible. Especially in a PvE game where "Close Enough", meaning feels viable is fine.

Very few games use a class-less system these days because devs just don't want to pay attention to their own mechanics. Even PoE1 has been narrowed quite a lot from it's glory days.

I dunno. It seems very obvious to me after adding Infusions to Elemental spells which not only forces you to say in that lane but gates others from using them and Talismans with their pre-built kits.

Classes are just weapons in this game which they've failed to have much incentive for doing. They said druid would be the weapon swap class yet only 4 wheels support this concept and the rest of the area has literally nothing unique about it unlike others.

I've mentioned in quite a few games over the years that you technically only need a cooldown or resource cost. Not both. Most of the time I see it happen is because the game's resource management isn't in check. Often due to enemy density or kills rewarding recovery.

In this respect PoE's potion system has always been flawed. Rewarding changes for kills.
