false “cheating software detected” warning after 0.4 can this lead to a ban? GGG not helpful

no to both, yiu'r sure not some other kernel level anti cheat is running additionally? I mean from another game.

after that said i understand why they are reluctant to share or maybe even don't know haow exactly their anti cheat works. Is it even theirs?

I had riot's anti-cheat, but i've uninstalled it also. I'm randomly uninstalling some programs I have but no idea what would be causing this

main question is:
Why I'm able to play when I have this message and all I need to do is click OK then I can log in to play - should'nt i've been blocked?

Most companies don't insta block, they collect data and ban in waves. This prevents people from figuring out how they detected them. Also, they won't tell you any information because 1. They don't have access to your individual date (support). and 2. Even if they did, they would not tell you for the reasons mentions above.
Game is server sided... not going to be doing much with cheat engine. You sound like a botter.

I fixed it

Those illicit programs you are telling about were old neversink filterblade filters with custom sounds located in %username%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2

Truly illicit software

I had the exact same Problem:
Had a neversink lootfilter via filterblade.
Updated the PoE2, started for the first time this season today.
"Cheatsoftware detected"
Searched for solution, found this post, deleted all files including old lootfilters.
Started the game again, no message.

The problem now is: am I a flagged cheater?
What if i use a new lootfilter and it happens again?
And what if GGG then decides to suspend or/and delete my account?

I really hope their detection system includes informations about these "illicit files" etc.

Glad I could help. Because GGG won't help with this and this is bug.
After I wrote them explanation in ticket what was causing this and asking why they not giving any information that this "cache" folder can cause problem their answer was:

"Thanks for the feedback however this is not information we provide."

That's bad customer service.
I guess GGG won't even answer for this one if it gonna stick with us forever.

Maybe because with your broken English you sound like a gold seller fishing for information.
I just got the same message just now, and this worries me because I have no clue whats causing it.

Did you tried to check for old neversink filterblade filters located in %username%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2

You can delete whole folder

I tried looking for it, I just don't entirely know what I'm doing. I verified on Steam and haven't seen the message since.
