" Like I said, the installer is not cleaning up temp files. It's downloading whatever it downloads to /temp (a folder that virtually every operating system has, it gets wiped on reboot). Then it uses what it downloaded to /temp to install the game, and it doesn't clean up after itself. So the disk space usage after install is 2x what the stated requirements are, and the space comes back after a reboot. No, I will not go through multiple reboots to install POE2. No, it's not my problem, it's just more shoddy work on GGG's part. FWIW, Epic's launcher fixes this for GGG if you install the game from there. The Epic launcher does clean up temp files as they are used, and not require 2x the disk space the game says it needs to install the game. The problem with the latter option is when GGG's auth / license key server breaks you can't get into the game at all, without unlinking from the Epic installer and installing the native version. tl;dr: no boss in the game is the hardest boss, the hardest boss is GGG itself, massive bugs that you cannot kill around every corner. |
