I really like Sekhemas
|
It's been a year since I started PoE2 and now I am finally at a point where I can do Sekhemas 4 floors.
It's a really long adventure with some level of randomization. There are four clear goals. And you are constantly tasked with making decisions and given chances to counteract the effect of bad luck. But there are still cases where this bad luck can get you on your toes. The rewards are pretty good. And this is on top of the usual stuff you get from killing monsters of the given monster level. The bosses are actually fairly well-designed. Once you played with them enough times you know how to deal with them. And you have to learn ways to deal with the first bosses as quickly as possible without losing honor. At the very least, these four bosses are a lot more of a known quantity than the random rolls of mapping. Speaking of honor. I am certain that this mechanic gates some characters out of the challenge. But with relics and with proper room picking you can be really watchful of it. And also something great about honor is that if you fail due to losing honor, it doesn't count as a death, on later character levels you don't want the XP loss. Relics allow you to customize and "juice" your experience in ways that waystones simply cannot accomplish rn. Performance of the tile sets is top notch. Hopefully 0.4.0 is going to fix performance in other tilesets, specially the temple of chaos. But for the last year Sekhemas was pretty much a good refuge. Last bumped on Dec 11, 2025, 9:52:16 AM

I struggled the first time and i needed some times to learn it.
Beating Zarokh the first time was a great moment =) I enjoy it more now and i will go back more often to try to get all the uniques. I wish there was more side content like this in the game other than maps but i know it's still early and that it should come in the future. I also find it well design even if sometimes RNG can make you sigh =) SSF player

Both trials are a blast. They are fun and engaging, its a huge upgrade from poe1 where those mechanics were clunky.
Its also way better than eternal labs zoom zoom. Last edited by zepberonha#9748 on Dec 10, 2025, 2:36:20 PM

I got used to ToS and I kinda like it for what it is, but I still think the honour mechanic sucks.

It's still super melee-unfriendly and ranged-biased so it sucks.

Trials can be fun,
IF they are not a gatekeeper for char power growth that tells "lol lmao buddy, wrong class choice, also pick up a bow with LA/rod lolololol" ___ Hoo there wanderer... Last edited by Henide#3803 on Dec 10, 2025, 3:33:45 PM

" Besides 0.1 i had no problem doing trials. Chaos is easy. For sekhenas you just need to spend a few chaos with honour resist + max honour relic and its also easy. Maybe 4th one is a bit more difficult |

I don't mind the concept of Shekemas, but I really dislike the whole honour system. There has to be a way to make it a challenging gauntlet without it.
1 game that did this concept pretty well was Grim Dawn, basically same concept: multifloored roguelike dungeons. They were quite tough and you had to be careful but without some weird second health bar. |

I love Sekhemas.
Its good to break up mapping to go do something else for awhile. Feel like thats what I will be doing with the league mechanic as well. Mash the clean
