Hardcore non-seasonal league build suggestions -- achievement hunting

Slams isn't the answer if you aren't used to playing slam characters, lucky block is basically free in maps you have to be truly afk to manage die so +1 to the people saying lacerate or bleed glad
Great gear is also dirt cheap this league so realistically you shouldn't struggle as anything just use a HC tree and don't cut corners. |

Okay, so while I was waiting for answers here initially, I started a Necro build I found in forums that had a moboanalytics guide and it had a section for HC.
I got as far as I ever had, but was one shot by something, and I am not even sure what. I am pretty sure it was a chaos explosion because i had just avoided those and it had the same sound effect. Level 66, Act 7 (I know I was way overleveled, in my SC I beat Act 10 at 68 but I wanted to go slow and steady and over level some bosses). Learned a lot having to pay attention. Probably not jumping right back in, but will circle back here and look through the suggestions when I do. For anyone curious, this is attempt 1 build: https://maxroll.gg/poe/build-guides/poison-srs-necromancer-league-starter It did get me my 2nd lab unlocked and my achieve for level 60 HC. So, not all for nothing at least. |

" Why are slams such a good options? In terns of travelling I get it, but at bosses what are the big bonuses? For some other replies, I am playing Standard as I didn't want a mechanic forced on me every time I went into a new area. Sure, sometimes beasts or Syndicate but those are once in a blue moon during campaign. Ultimate goal is 90 to get the last HC achieve. So if Slam builds get me there, I'm ok with it. Does this look like a plan? (if you have what you think are better builds I am def open to them) So far i have it between these two builds (woolie's comes with a separate leveling guide) https://mobalytics.gg/poe/profile/woolie/builds/woolie-s-sunder-leveling-all-ascendancies https://mobalytics.gg/poe/builds/woolie-earthshatter-juggernaut OR https://mobalytics.gg/poe/builds/imexile-earthshatter-berserker-slams Thanks again, |

"If it was "chaos explosion" than likely either the green balls (hard to miss) or 'Exploding Crystals' which can be easy to miss. If 'Exploding Crystals' then you likely did stand still before RIP which is esp for less knowledgeable players one of the most common causes of RIP. "This is usually from POV of (mechanical and knowledgeable) players that play such builds. If you dont know the game very well and have low mechanical ability than scurrying around while your Minions or Totems deal with "it" is much safer then. "Unless you got good gear (or will trade for it) you are gimping yourself if you dont use the Tree in Keepers. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

" https://maxroll.gg/poe/build-guides/explosive-arrow-ballista-champion-league-starter Does this seem safe enough? I know most mechanics in campaign, at least up til act 7 but mostly from range or minion perspective. I've had 2 melee get through campaign in past that I recall but never cared enough to play it safe. |

" This should work. Dont forget to keep moving and spam totems. In maps skip the dangerous bosses like 'Core' and 'Bramble Valley' until you are at a much higher tier for other maps than the dangerous maps. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

" Had to spend some currency to change my Duelist into this and all my gems are level 1 so going to grind a bit to level them. I was at Piety fight with the red beam so I definitely want to get better gear first. My health is only 1k with no ES. I know from last time this boss is mostly physical and lightning, hoping my Evasion is high enough. I kind of got lucky, 2 stash stops before my previous character died, he found a 5L bow, so I threw that on this new ballista guy. Last edited by kryadan#1199 on Dec 1, 2025, 9:59:31 PM

"Evasion is likely not so good for this. My guess is that most of the dangerous stuff is Spell damage so Evasion wont help. Only exception is Piety Melee attack but she rarely uses it and not at all against you if you stay away from her. What you want at this stage is life buffer, Armour, max resists. Evasion is optional. In general Evasion is good supplementary defense but for early progression Armour is strictly better than Evasion against bosses. For Piety & Malachai act 4 better get a bit more than 1000 life. For the not mechanically skilled Campaign bosses get much easier if you stack up life. The general recommendation is 300 life per act in HC, IMO this is however rather too low for a lot of players. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
