that said, i know what u mean and i sort of agree. tbh when they fucked with divines and exalts it destroyed a lot of long term wealth many of us had and i mentally just detached at that point. its sort of whatever, my mrs plays warhammer with her friends and it just reminded me that no matter what happens she always has her warhammer models, her rule books, 30 years from now she can put them on a table and play a version of the game she has books for that was released in 2018, or 2008, or 1998. i feel like its more worth while to put time into those sort of hobbies than computer games honestly.
I feel like this is so overlooked. I would love to play some older versions. In 1.0 balance was so different, that, at this point in time, it's an entirely different game that no one can play. I know it's less content, but I simply wish to experience how it was. Not to mention countless changes over the years that made builds nonviable and so on.

Well after searching for other games to play, after quite some time of mindlessly consuming this game. I finally understand how harmful this game has been for me. Don't get me wrong this game has a lot of content but there are way to many issues to count. And well instead of trying to address some of these issues, they would rather stamp out any form of dissent and criticism they receive. However the community in this game is possibly the worst part as most are just mindless consumers, with not much care to give about other people or opinions (just look at the guys screaming about their drops). Just mindless riders for people that do not give a damn about you.
But hey at the end of the day i don't have anything against anyone here since most are just trying to enjoy the only one thing they do.
After almost 10y that i was here.
Goodbye.
Oh yeah and if you want to get salty, i leave you with this.
There is no end of life plan for poe1.
Sometimes we just gotta realize when something becomes unhealthy.
Its completely logical to move away from something that you feel doesn't respect your time.
Sure trolls will troll you a bit, but there is a strong portion that will be coming to conclusions similiar to yours. The writing is on the wall for it with the way they're responding to all the dissent. You'll have survivorship bias occurring a bit, but for the most part PoE is on a course to be abandoned the second its base finds an alternative that respects their time.
The players are being loud and vocal, the Devs are not responding or addressing the concerns, the good will is being killed off and when you get to this point all that's needed is a place for them to go and they will.
I hope the devs kinda wake up and realize it.
But most people change because they have to not because they want to.
In games that point usually means its too late.

Whats even "respect your time" means??
What insanely good games respect your time?
I can only think of cookie-clickers, some cringe gacha games or games that respect your time but not your wallet (p2w)
Any in-depth game like PoE cannot (by your logic) respect your time...because its very in-depth
Why would i want a game to respect my time? Shouldn't i be the one in charge of it?
Name 5 games that respects your time AND they are actually very cool and fun*
*Spoiler - gacha games, afk games, cookie-clicker games are not cool and fun
MMORPG's require trillions of hours, does WoW respect your time? i assume not

Nobody cares. You are too sensitive. If you feel bad after playing game - don't do it. Have fun without it.

Whats even "respect your time" means??
It's an all encompassing way of saying valuing the consumer's investment, in this case the player's engagement.
It's intentionally used to simultaneously point out flaws of the design:
- FOMO aspects (This cosmetics leaving soon!)
- Mobile "dark project" mechanics (Kingsmarch)
- Players feel rewarded for the time spent playing vs. defeated (challenging systems encourage growth rather then sadism)
- And also factors such as feeling the developers are just as passionate if not more then the gamers about the project.
Currently those are all issues, and there's more implied meaning but just to give you the basic jist of what it means.
And there are countless games that feel like they respect the player and their time, Warframe, Witcher, BG3, etc. It's not hard to find games that the players and devs have a good healthy relationship with respect. It's just always up to the Devs to decide if they're willing to do the work to have that or not. Players almost always are willing to give the benefit of the doubt as long as they feel proper effort is being made. Warframe is a great example of that.

FOMO aspects - that's a "you" issue and not a game issue. Never in 10 years i had FOMO over cosmetics
Kingsmarch i dont like - i just skip it, no problem
Warframe is ass
Witcher, is this 2008?
BG3 is roleplaying game, but yes its a good game
You haven't named any game that is close to PoE in terms of replayability and content
I guess it's all subjective in the end, so Im not sure if your point stands, because IMO GGG is respecting my time (i just quit when i dont feel like playing, easy right?)

Plot twist:
They don't leave, they take maybe a month break from the game and they come back to it. Or they'll be playing in the 1.0 full release of the game and suddenly it's "they fixed everything!", "I've always liked PoE2!".
Performative aaaah post.

computer games are kind of shit. people used to tell me they were against steam, i didnt like steam when it very first launched, what do you mean i dont own a disk? i want to own a disk, i want to physically own the game you are selling me. ive seen people say that to me many times since over the years. at one point i thought u know what? i want to play doom 3 its been a while, dug out my discs... it doesnt support 1920x1080... i tried my old CoD1 discs, they wouldnt install on a modern pc at the time. thats when i realised it doesnt even matter if you own the disc, cause you wont own a pc that is fully compatible with that disc over time. its almost better its on steam cause if its there it has to be playable and patched.
[...]
It's not "computer games" in general, just some of them.
For older games, you're more likely to get support to make the game working again from random hackers rather than the official developers who are more likely to have moved on.
On GoG you can download the original game versions, as well as the patches. They try to keep the games they resell playable too by patching them themselves.
Steam, however, behaves badly with its forced updates, no guarantees for rollback versions to exist, backups being a pain in the ass, and often DRM.
And there are no guarantees about the games working on Steam : for instance I have a game on Steam that only works properly on Windows 98 - XP. And Steam itself dropped WinXP support years ago. Oops.

Never had issues with Steam for about 15-20 years of using it
If there's a game that runs good at WinxXP or Win98, i think you should just let it go, don't be stuck in the past

Time for a hard truth.
This is a video game. If you find it harmful to you, then you have an addiction problem. Poe is not the problem, its a pretty straightforward game, and unless your run an RMT farm, there isn't much investment in the game.
If you feel SO attached that PoE is harmful for you, then you need to address why that is happening.
There is no company "addressing" why you have a problem. Thats like Fritolay addressing why you are addicted to Doritos.
This is about you, not GGG or PoE. Good luck to you brother.
