Scion for a starter?

Scion was pretty strong once upon a time, but they nerfed it pretty hard and it never really recovered. Now, at best, is 2nd or 3rd best at whatever your building, usually worse. Probably why it's getting a new ascendancy option; new ascendancies are hit or miss and they didn't show enough details on it to even have a clue yet. That said, I'd watch for the drop of the full ascendancy details and see what people think can be built with it. But you're usually getting that info day before launch, without much time to theory craft.

With what has been shown of the new ascen i think we already have a few builds that are looking strong, not sure how it will stack up with previous iteration obviously. Going to be interesting to see how strong scion will be, then again as they said the unique options will change per league so we might have some bad options at some point.


Kinda worried they tailor the unique options based on build popularity, would make for a weird class that only works with certain options more so then freedom to build.

Seeing maybe having prospero as an option does make me excited for some armor stacking tech, add in victarios choice and smite will be strong.

Starting as RF scion is pretty strong also, you just need some fire rez rings and the tree and you just face the content until maps...Explosive concotion always works, but I find it very clunky. I had a pretty good time with RF on scion though...Once you reach your first fire mastery, and have 2 fire res rings that you can pretty much get by end of act 1 with vendor recipes it really starts to pick up. At maps level well that's a different story you need to respec there to something.

Scion is pretty bad outside a few builds that can league start...For me scion will be the forever go WardLooper and if they bring back mercenaries in the same for as they were then I'll go another round of aura stacker KB merc

With the new ascendancy probably we can make something work, but it's too too early to know because we do not have all the info about the ascendancy...We do not know if it was changed after Phrecya

Bleed sunder has always been my comfy goto for league start on scion, could do 3 stones/t16 farm quite early with little gear investment. Speaking of RF i think it will be strong also and with the skin of the lords/loyal/Enmity's Embrace you get some nice fire pen.


The way i am looking at it at the moment, not knowing exactly what we are getting, is to look at the builds that use uniques that could potentialy be on the scion ascen list. Pick something that has an item on the ascen and swap those uniques out for other items, for example kf totems, if warped time piece is on the ascen what other amulets could be used? Could go auls for free haste etc or dragonfang for reservation (we are losing a decent reservation ascen).
