As someone who thought the dodge roll looked painful to use before I played it, I actual found it to be quite good to use. It's not much different to spamming a movement skill, but has a bit more utility.
No one is forcing you to play POE2. If you're concerned about the games becoming to alike, fair enough. I think its good if one has more active game style than the other. There are some things I've noticed this league that headed a bit towards POE2, which I hope they keep the games different as they are currently. There's no need for two similar games. Some aspects will work in both, others not as much.
The real problem with rolldodge design its that it's anti-thesis of one of PoE core pillar design where Chris have stated somewhere that it's were made to "play while watching TV"
It's the hands-off and relaxing nature of PoE that drew me and many other people in.
And the nature of rolldodging is FOCUS. It requires focus and bit of skill to dodge bosses and monsters attack. And no, I absolutely do not want to put more FOCUS in my PoE game. I play it relaxing while concocting in my head what's the next upgrade for my build, which unique would make sense, while having Archer 2009 TV show on my second monitor.
I am already tensed up and stressed out from my 10 hours work and do not want any more tension, hyping up to dodge or die on the next boss slam. It's stupid and silly and childish. And if I ever want that experience I'd play Dark Souls and Elden Ring and I am a Soulsfan, I have Dark souls 1,2,3 Sekiro Elden Ring on my Steam, with over 350 hours on Dark Souls 3 and 10s of runs on it. Trust me I can parry Champion Gundyr 100%, I can dodge your shitty knockoff Soulike wannabe ARPG Johnathan, so it's not about "skill".
The entire design, is anti-thesis to core pillar design in PoE 1 and what I find it good and unique and suits my playstyle.
Tension in game is childish you say. I say what you describe is the exact answer of a 90s housewife, when being asked why is she watching a mindless, slow and silly soap opera. "I am already tensed up and stressed out from my 10 hours work and do not want any more tension". Go do yoga, play one of 1000s mobile match 3, and let proper games be games, with challenge, failure and all the other things ancient housewives run from.
You watch a show, play PoE and make up builds in your head, sounds like no immersion in any of the activities. Also Archer and PoE, quite a mood and thematic mismatch, what a waste of designers/ musicians/ writers work. I enjoy PoE 1 just as much as 2, but if that quote from Chris Wilson is real (citation please), then I'm kind of happy he's gone. For a game as tonally and strategically serious as PoE, the mindless watch netflix die and continue no reset gameplay is an insult.
As for knockoffs, PoE 2 is much less a souls knockoff than PoE 1 was Diablo 2's.
Also you mention itt how "everybody" likes PoE 1 and this is what PoE 2 will become. Well the ceiling for "everybody" in this case is 250k, and the ceiling for the other one is Diablo 4 audience, whatever that number is, then all the Elden Ring and Bloodborne "children", and many more who got scared off 1. So yeah look out, and be happy PoE 1 is still on, send roses or sth just in case they succeed.

I play POE with 0 sound effect, 30% filter item volume to hear that sweet tink sound.

Well the ceiling for "everybody" in this case is 250k
250k impressionable young children watching Twitch trying out the shiney new game of the month. "OMG TOTALLY ELDEN RING!1"

Lmao. I've played enough competitive games, still do. Theres time and space for relaxing games and competitive game and I feel sorry for you if you think all games must be tension HARDCORE highly CHALLENGING for it not to be soap operas for housewives. And it's pathetic to even consider a PvE game to be "HARDCORE" and "CHALLENGING". PvP games are always harder, fighting against real human, aka the apex predator on this planet are always harder than fighting static lines of codes with simple strategies. You are so pathetic if you think you are achieving anything at all challenging yourself in a PvE game lmao. Are you the person that feels satisfaction from "outwitting" and "out playing" literal basic path-finding algorithm NPCs? Lol.
Poe1 has always been on the relaxing side, heavy on the theorycrafting, unless you're doing hardcoressf doing uber elder with a ranger. People build millions of damage and full screen AoE and 5 layers of defense for the satisfaction and relaxing nature of you having the power to own the game.
I even play Tarkov for nearly 3000 hours. Dont even talk about tension if you have never played that game lol, lmao, you casual, thinking a PvE game is "CHALLENGING". I'd call you a clown if I could but the forum guidelines probably won't let me.

What's really pathetic imo is video game posturing, or thinking playing pvp is a badge of honor. Millions of people do, I do since first quake, wow Tarkov you're truly something, now it makes sense for a dark and strategically deep arpg to be a mindless autobattler in the gameplay department, a degenerate afterthought reduced to a drop sound. You win.
It's not a question of achievement or satisfaction. For me, for a game to be game, there has to be an element of challenge, failure etc. It doesn't have to be always the most extreme challenge, but usually the more the better, and at least not pathetic like press for awesome. Ofc in some games that kind of gameplay fits, casual mobile or pre installed games. It doesn't fit PoE though, and GGG agrees, as do every other arpg dev recently.
And yes pve game can be much more challenging that chasing apex predators in pvp who seem to terrorize you so much. The former can be build just so a single mistake kills a long run, while in the latter sometimes just a small gap in experience in your favour guarantees smooth sailing. Many many pvp matches is just routine based stomping, esp in high tiers where every small imbalance can spell doom. Imagined cutthroat pvp vs the reality of it.
You'd call me a clown but you won't, and yet you did heh. Better go play sth while you watch sth else but think about a third thing, maybe talk to someone while you do it? Maybe you'll finaly relax/
