Message to Grinding Gear Games – Feedback on the SSF Experience in PoE2

Again..
We are NOT talking about the whole game, it can stay like it is.. We are only talking about the "SOLO SELFFOUND" leagues, where you get 99,99% useless drops anyway, not suitable for your class or build, where you can´t trade with other player or other chars on your account anyway and have to dismantle it into currency.. And no, you don´t understand it right.. You wouldn´t need a lvl80 ranger to drop a bow for your lvl80 monk.. Just ANY ranger on the account, even a lvl1 ranger would be enough... The dropped itemlvl is always calculated as drops for the currently played char anyway, isn´t it? So the existing chars on the league account could tell the game what you prefer to drop.. eg. in case you are playing a monk and want to play later a sorc or ranger, just create a lvl1 sorc and lvl1 ranger in the league and the game would drop preferred monk, ranger and sorc stuff fromm the item pool while you play your monk.. Just to present a different perspective:
I got to T15/T16 maps in all 3 current seasons and finished lots of pinnacle bosses. In my opinion, reaching the highest tier of maps is somewhat easy in PoE2, but some of the bosses on higher difficulty were a good challenge. It was mostly out of boredom that i didnt develop my builds to the point where they would become easy too. Especially now that we have some real crafting options, i think it should be no problem for a dedicated player with average game knowledge to reach endgame and pinnacle content. But my point is: PoE2's SSF experience does not need dedicated mechanics to make SSF easier or to increase the ability to get certain items in SSF. This NOT Last Epoch! |

" It's not about crafting... The items you find should feel rewarding, not just some junk you throw away anyway... We were all hunters and gatherers back then and the game should tap into that instinctive feeling of reward to make it fun, not frustrating, even more important on SSF... |

Hello, and thank you both for your responses — they really provide some interesting insight into the SSF topic.
Personally, I’ve only created four characters so far, and there are still many game mechanics I don’t fully master. Until now, I’ve only played one character per league: a monk for 0.2, an Amazon for The Third Edict 2, a warrior, and for the first time, a second character in the same league, a Poison Pathfinder. For this last one, I followed a suggested build and noticed that, firstly, the loot from my first run allowed me to follow this build, which was initially designed with trading in mind, and secondly, once in endgame, this character also allowed me to find interesting gear for the warrior. I fully understand your points about the randomness of loot and the fact that some items drop rarely or aren’t suitable for the class you’re playing. However, I think there’s a way to improve the SSF experience without breaking balance, for example by making drops more relevant to the existing characters on your account or through loot preference mechanics like those used in PoE1. Despite all this, this game is amazing (my only previous experience being Diablo 3) and the guys at Triple G are real professionals. Thanks again for your perspectives and feedback, it’s really appreciated. |
