Message to Grinding Gear Games – Feedback on the SSF Experience in PoE2

Hello to the entire GGG team,
I am an occasional but passionate player of Path of Exile 2 since its release, and I would like to thank you for the strategic depth and richness of your universe.
I play exclusively in Solo Self-Found (SSF) mode, and after creating four characters since The Third Edict — including an Amazon who reached T12 maps — I have found that SSF progression in the endgame is extremely difficult, if not blocked entirely.
Loot is too random to allow coherent power scaling, crafting is still too limited to compensate for the absence of trading, and certain tiers (T6–T10) become insurmountable walls without specific items.
Do you plan to implement targeted adjustments to make SSF more viable?
SSF is a way of playing that values autonomy, strategy, and resilience — qualities your game embodies brilliantly. More explicit support for this approach would strengthen the engagement of a community that seeks to overcome your challenges without a safety net.
As a French player, I would also like to point out that questions posted on the French forum often go unanswered, which makes it difficult for us to feel heard.
I am therefore expressing myself here in English to ensure that this message has a chance to be read and considered.
Thank you for your work and for the attention you give to your players.

That was always the problem for me not to play SSF..

I think the drops are the same as in normal league, but you can´t trade..

And that´s the biggest problem in SSF..

And I always encoutered the problem that items that drop are not suitable for my build and neither for my class..

I played a sorceress and the bows dropped in an immense amount, but wands and staffs where really rare..

SSF needs "more" and "better" kicka$$ drops, suitable to your class or other chars on your league account, so you can at least hand them over to your other chars..

Most of the dropped stuff is worthless for me.. I just can get craft material out of them...

Thank you for your reply — I completely agree with your experience.
I’m also playing SSF and I’ve encountered the exact same issue: most of the drops are irrelevant to my build or class. I often find gear that would be great… if I were playing a completely different archetype.
The lack of trade wouldn’t be a problem if the loot system adapted better to your current character or at least to your account.
I really like your idea of allowing SSF players to transfer gear between characters on the same league account — that would already make a huge difference.
Right now, the SSF experience feels like it punishes autonomy instead of rewarding it. I hope GGG will consider more targeted loot, smarter drop weighting, or even SSF-specific crafting tools in future updates.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts — it’s good to know I’m not the only one feeling this way.
The challenge with loot based on character is it would create another issue in that if you want to play a spell build on a ranger you’d have even more trouble getting wands if they scaled it to drp bows, for example.

that would be solved if you had a sorc char on the account.. ;)

btw.. I never saw a ranger with a wand..
The point was you need to be able to use any weapons and potentially get something you can use as you play. The ain’t gonna change that experience.
It’s been common to use a bow in second slot with quarterstaff on certain builds for example to shock with a bow skill. It’s just one example.

My point was..

If you need a bow on your actual char, create a ranger on your account..
If you need a quarterstaff, create a monk on your account..
If you need a hammer, create a warrior on it..
If you need a wand, guess what.. yes create a magican char on your account..

So in this case you could control your equipment drops with your account chars to be more specific to your build or used chars, if trading with other accounts on SSF isn´t possible..

The drops would be more specific and suitable to your chars this way..

and we are only talking about SSF not the whole game..

get it?

If only the loot worked that way man. When I create a ranger it seems to want to give me anything but a bow. Same with the other classes. The only time it worked thos way was the loot update in .2 but seemed to dissappear in .3

That´s my suggestion/wish for how SSF could be changed so that the drops better match the class and would also make a better game experience at least for SSF otherwise you could trade stuff anyway with other players..

Now it seems to be purely random what you get..
And apparently you get more loot that's suitable for other classes than the one you're currently playing...
So I would need a lv80 ranger to drop a bow for my lv80 monk?
You can see the issue right? Right?

I think some sort of loot preference mechanic like is in PoE1 Keepers league where you’d have the tree and select options that impacts the likelihood of certain loot types could be cool.
