Title: The EXP Loss System Needs Serious Rework — GGG, Please Listen

And before the “get good noob” comments roll in… lol, save it.

Yes, there’s an Omen that prevents 75% EXP loss — but you better pray to the RNG gods!!! That’s lame. It’s great that the item exists, but the system around it? Absolutely terrible. The Omen should straight up mean 0 EXP loss when used. Period.

The amount of EXP loss right now is beyond ridiculous. I’d love to just unload a string of obscenities, but that won’t help anyone — other than letting me vent the frustration of losing a bar and a half, two bars, then repeating the cycle with no growth. It’s exhausting. And when waystones stop dropping and you don’t trade on the PoE trade site, you’re basically locked out. Sure, vendors sell them — but once you drain their stash, guess what?
VENDORS RESTOCK ONLY WHEN YOU LEVEL UP.

I understand and love difficulty — I’m one of those players who actually appreciates a challenge — but this isn’t “difficulty.” This is punishment disguised as difficulty. It’s not fun. It’s not engaging. It’s just demoralizing.

A better system would be losing only the EXP gained within that map/waystone, or — if you insist on being brutal — make us actually De-Level when our EXP bar empties. At least then, it’s consistent and makes logical sense.

So figure it out:

-Either De-Level as punishment,

-Or only remove the EXP gained during that run.

Simple. Straightforward. Fair.

How many players do you think you’d keep — and how many would spend on MTX — if EXP loss wasn’t this soul-crushing? I personally know dedicated, long-time players who’ve quit solely because of this mechanic. These are the gamers who live and breathe ARPGs — not league “hardcore,” but the truly passionate ones who invest hundreds of hours mastering builds and learning every corner of the game. They loved PoE, they supported it financially, but they walked away because losing hours of progress felt like a complete waste of time and effort.

I’m one of them — a former all-in player turned casual due to life and responsibilities — and even now, I feel like every death is a slap in the face. It makes me second-guess even logging in.

This is a plea, GGG: please fix the EXP loss system. Keep the game challenging — yes — but also fair.

-Give more EXP than we lose.

-Reduce the penalty.

-Or make death truly meaningful by De-Leveling.

This half-measure, percentage-based punishment? It kills motivation. It kills momentum.
And it’s driving players away from a game we want to love.

Please fix this, GGG. Keep PoE2 awesome for everyone.

didnt it used to be some random amount between 10 and 30%? lol.
The percentage loss vs gain is still too much, so random 10-30% is still praying to RNG gods. A poorly implemented system. They could definitely improve it, change it, etc.

i mean now it's a flat 10% loss every time as far as i know, so it's a lot less punishing than it used to be

If ever GGG decides to remove XP loss, millions of people will come back to play the game and of what experienced so far from 1990 until now people don't quit if reaching 100 level. Instead staying and trying another Char from the beginning.

Right now game left empty and profits are only from Fancy boys who don't die ever due to unbalanced and unfair mechanics that company continues.


Even if GGG decides to remove XP loss for 1 WEAK the results of back coming people would be so visible that we gonna talk about astronomical differences.
Exp loss wouldn't be such a bad thing if random unfair 1shots didn't exist.

People would build tankier to avoid more 1shots if the game didn't have timed content which punishes you for being too slow.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Anyhow, the amount loss is beyond ridiculous and Id love to just shout obscenities but that doesnt get anyone anywhere besides a little steam to release from the overbearing frustration it caused by losing a bar and a half, 2 bars then its just constant, no growth, then no other way to get waystones if they dont drop and you dont do trading on PoE trade site, and yes you can buy them, though after you depleted the vendors stash of the waystones that were available.... VENDORS restock every level up....

I do understand that difficulty is favored amongst many including myself, this isnt a difficulty level that someone needs to be striving for, it is just point and laugh at the people who hate this within a game. I like the dangers of losing exp, but a better system would be only losing the amount of exp you received in that map/waystone, if you cant do that then make it so you completely delvl when you lose the exp when there is no more exp on your experience bar. If we are going to lose EXP at least do it the proper way.

So figure it out, either De-level as punishment or only lose the amount of exp you received during that map/waystone. Its simple. Its a easy decision.
How many players would you keep and be willing to spend money on microtransactions if the amount of exp lose is detrimental how much time one may have to play vs another gamer. Though if the amount loss wasnt a waste of time to the player then I know for fact the player retention would be much much higher than it is now. I know a more than a handful of HARDCORE gamers that quit playing because the exp loss mechanisms currently in place is a complete turn off, and they will never return. To them and I (retired hardcore turned casual do to live situations and responsibilities) when they leave a game they absolutely love, they are man i just wasted so much time playing PoE2 gave them money that is basically a negative investment on their end.

This is a plea GGG please fix the EXP LOSS, keep this game being awesome for everyone, I do agree there should be a skill gap, but its not a gap if other players can not commit the amount of time spent to losing exp or the insane slow roll of exp gain. Please Fix This GGG, please give more exp than exp loss percentage, or just lessen the amount loss, or just tank the exp loss so much that you actually De-Level.. this wishy washy range with the current loss exp mechanic that is in place now, really makes one reconsider playing PoE2.
