Build for new league - input requested
|
Nothing wrong with planning your own build but saying to slap whatever random transfigured gem the game spits out and going forward with no plan is not a recipe for success at a base level, let alone for beating t16+ content.
Like if he pulled out armageddon brand of recall you have to build and use it in a way that is massively different from the base version with a very high penalty for not using it properly. Not a good thing to go in blind with. |

" That's great that it makes you feel good, but that doesn't make it good advice for someone who asked for build advice for new league. Unless OP specifically stated that he does not enjoy engaging in meta-builds or is bored with all the usual stuff, it is a very safe assumption that they are looking for a build that will excel at early content with low investment (the definition of a league starter) The game you are suggesting is semi-common mid-late league, when people get bored of the league or for people that have been playing for a decade, but unless you are in SSF, it is objectively bad advice for league start, when an early jump on end-game content = exponentially more wealth for the league. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.” Last edited by Piousqd#0073 on Oct 22, 2025, 1:23:45 PM

Ok, to help out. I know details are important.
I have played POE 1 (and 2) since beta. Some leagues and with various intermittent down times as I play elsewhere. Mostly I play in standard, though some leagues that look interesting to me I'll play. Mostly (almost all) of my builds are self made. Some a little exotic, I enjoy experimenting with things and making synergies. Most of my builds (unless I get bored with them) make it to white tiered maps. I have a few that go all the way to red. I have a lot of 70-89 characters, and a hand full 90-98 guys/gals. I have full cleared the Atlas, though I have not done all the Atlas stuff, like finish Maven/elder etc. Last thing to share is that I am on the Spectrum. Which is why I very much don't like talking with people I don't know. Even for brief encounters like trading. So many unwritten rules and etiquettes that 97% of the population just sort-a gets automatically, so much so that when someone isn't on the same wavelength it causes hostility and anger. So I just avoid the possibility. When the NPC/Factor based trading goes online for POE 1 - that will be awesome for me. I might even sell some things too!! I don't care for the idea of making a build around one of three randomly rolled gems of a specific color. Too arbitrary. I believe the build should be in tune with the class and what ascensions are available. I also get waiting for patch notes. Never know what is getting nerfed hard, what may be buffed, and what new skill/support gems are coming. Another build, aside from RF, I've thought about, is a Discharge build. Are they viable at all? Or anything either highly effective and/or very interesting to level up, map and delve (and whatever other content) with. **Asus TUF x670E Gaming, 7950x3d, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, All Samsung 4k: 56"<->Arc2 55"<->48", NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. Discharge requires some combination of charge stacking and rapid charge generation, both of which can be summarized as "complicated and lots of currency".
RF might be changed in patch notes or not. If you really want to go RF then Pohx's guides on his site should still be fine or he will make the necessary changes. My recommendations still stand for some type of hierophant build. "Melee" builds are generally hindered near league start due to weapon availability, relative to cheaper unique spellcaster/totem options. The power siphon hierophant build i linked can do very good damage using the relatively common and cheap "piscator vigil" unique wand. Totem builds are generally a safe bet for league start, but I'm talking about wand totem builds like power siphon, not "spell" totem builds like frostblink or whatever. |

Thank you.
I will check out the Power Charge build. My mood and focus can change from time to time and I am on a power leveling-ish and get to the good stuff type vector at the moment. My current guy is RF and I followed-ish the same guide. You can check out PhearcePhyre (or not) if curious at my adaptation. **Asus TUF x670E Gaming, 7950x3d, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, All Samsung 4k: 56"<->Arc2 55"<->48", NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. Watching the PODCast.
Wondering if I want to do another Chieftain and go melee? Nice fiery explode them build - auto casting the warcry that makes things explode, and any other attack, passive along those lines. Or one or more of the PBAOE's other than RF. How easy/cheap is getting auto-cast going? Hmm additional thought... Now that it is confirmed for sure the new trade system is going live with the new league. I've wondered how well a build around Cyclone and Empire's Grasp + Bronn's Lithe Cuthroat Garb (both common enough to be cheap) would work. Tractor beam them all into my blender of death. Hmmm.... Shadow or Ranger? I dont think I've done a melee ranger in POE. Add some kind of auto-cast with Blade Vortex. Another mechanic I havnt experimented with yet so could be interesting and hopefully not expensive. **Asus TUF x670E Gaming, 7950x3d, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, All Samsung 4k: 56"<->Arc2 55"<->48", NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. Scrolled through patch notes. Serious wand changes that overall suggest improvement. Hierophant ascendancy is untouched as is relative totem power not counting possible league theme (genesis tree) bonuses. Overall wand totem builds remain a safe league starting bet using power siphon or something else.
If you are seriously considering a "melee" or near melee build, keep in mind the importance of getting block wherever you can, including eventually going for expensive "blood magic" jewel with remote (far away) access to good block nodes. The survival with/without block in melee mapping is night and day. Similarly, if you expect to go near melee with a two handed build, expect to die a lot. Duelist ascendancies appear to be untouched in terms of nerfing, so any of them are a safe bet for a "melee" build. They also have the easy access to block nodes, spell suppression, and iron reflexes keystone (evasion to armor conversion to use evasion spell suppression gear).
