Please don't bring Mercenaries to POE2

Agreed, no to mandatory pets. You can have a 150 Spirit cost Mercenary or something though that's fine.
+1

I'm hating this trend of rpg games releasing npc companions who follows you around and provide advantages to you.

I'm not against being something optional but in a lot of games is basically mandatory, because there are many upsides to it but little to no downsides.

I don't like having pets or mercenaries/assistants following around during gameplay, it's distracting and unnecessary imo (unless i'm playing a character that relies on that fantasy)

If i could make them invisible or something that would already help

please stop bringing everything from poe1
I thought this Title was about the Mercenary CLASS not a Mercenary companion.

I know Diablo 2 has Mercenaries, but Diablo 2 is a terrible game that deserves no reverence.

Too late... 80% is already copied!
Mercenaries should come only as a skill for Mercenary class or warrior.

It`s not a trend if it was introduced in a genre starter 25 years ago.

------------------

I don`t know why poe1 mercs get all that hate but i consider d2 mercs as good mechanic(which pd2 took to another level i heard).

They weren`t mandatory at any point(ele immunes could be handled multiple ways but yeah, geared merc was best without a doubt)
Gearing them was fun
They added aura bot layer
Most setup were viable only deep-ish endgame

Everybody was happy with it. If You wanted do content solo, You could. If You wanted to add another layer You could. There are plenty of more important matters atm, as long as endgame and skill/ascendancy balance is not properly addressed this is simply bad time for such mechanic. Spirit meta is narrowed as fuck and we don`t need overtuned merc to narrow meta even more.

Do i want mercs in poe2? 50/50. I`m definitely okay with trying them like in a non core league mechanic or event.

they just dont want to balance classes, so it's better to throw a lot of stupid stuff instead
for example there is one class that can wear MORE ITEMS THAN OTHER CLASSES ... WTF? 3rd ring ? screw you.

another thing is few classes are more comfortable for companions as they can have more spirit than other... so instead of powering those other classes... they do nothing.

in the end of all those unbalanced things we have teleportingoneshoting supersonicfast character and ... the rest.
again - also there is only 1 char with THREE RINGS, it is not just about dps, but , for example, negative rarity thing... you should have exactly -100 rarity for farming bases in temple, and it could be done only with this class.
why not rebalance passives and power up this class there? cuz devs just dont care... more new things for them means better game. but as they dont play it, they dont understand players and their complaints.

tell you, if such development will continue, and it seems so, poe2 release will be a huge fail.
i guess this is a main reason of EA steam model.
and one more thing - latest leagues/updates show, at least for me, that devs have no any vision where poe2 is going and how it should be do be popular game for players, but not just 1 month per league when people playing and after that no one cares about this game... such a "success"
