Maps are too small!

large maps are bad because you have to town 30 times to sell items to vendor. towning frequently is on the same level as backtracking for me - both feel terrible.

+1 for small maps so I just make a single trip and go next

The map needs more monster density. I like their current size.

The feeling is that maps are not rewarding enough nowadays because there is less loot dropping.
Maps that are small or very closed in are just so much worse than maps that have more space for monsters and mechanics.

I did not like that they reduced monster density in open layouts, the floor we are starting off with bad layouts being bad is too low, like crypt is legit 10% the value of any open layout for example.

The bad layouts need positive changes, just add some rooms where stuff can be instead of tight alleys and shite. We did not need nerfs to open layouts.

maps are fine in size.
I like them as they are.

Define "bad layouts".

Your post is far from being a feedback.
I agree that map size is too small. But this is very subjective. There's no such thing as a perfect map size for everyone.

The reason I liked larger maps is I tend to farm for several hours. The more time I spend on the map, the more loot I get. When the maps are small I spend more time crafting waystones, moving around on the Atlas map, and not actually mapping.

Obviously monster density/count plays a part here as well.

It would be nice if we would control map size somehow. Why not just leave it to user preference? If I like spending more time inside the map fighting monsters then let me do it.

I don't have issues with multiple trips to sell because my loot filter is pretty strict and I use wisdom scrolls to check items in the map.

I don't think tablets and waystones can be used to adjust map size preferences because that would take even more away from juicing - some of which we lost with tower overlaps going away. But some other way to control it would be nice.

It's not a bad idea to add the "Increased map size" and "Reduced map size" properties to the tablets. Let the players choose which map they want to play.

everyone complained theyre too big and now theyre too small

They are too big. By a lot in some cases.
So I think it has become obvious that there is a decent segment of players who like large maps and complex layouts. When I see a map that is just a singular winding corridor it just feels depressing. The game world I get to explore is a series of instanced singular corridors? What choices are there to be made here?
I may as well be playing a side-scroller at that point instead of an isometric ARPG.

I also do not particularly enjoy crafting and sorting tablets and waystones. I would like to spend more time actually exploring, looting and killing monsters than trying to decide which map I'm going to use with which waystone. Smaller maps maximize time spent looking at the atlas and managing tablets and waystones, and minimize actual combat/loot-hunt gameplay.

I want the game to challenge me and not just hand me the answer. I don't want to go into a map and immediately know that the map is gonna be a doughnut shape or a corridor or a tiny little field with walls all around. If we don't have to find or discover the correct path through a map then what is the purpose of having randomly generated maps? At this point the sameness of maps, in terms of layout, essentially kills the core concept of randomly generated maps. This, as we know, has been a keystone feature of ARPG's since the very beginning, and one of the main reasons these games sustain such replayability.

At the very least there should be some option to drastically increase map size and complexity, there are many of us out there what don't want D4 simplicity and want our Durance of Hate style maps. Perhaps this could be done with Omens, or an implicit waystone modifier?

Some may like small maps, but a lot of us do not. I want to explore and I do not want to have my hand held the entire time.

word.
