Immortal Chronomancer - 13k ES CI, <2s recoup, one button map clear (180% rarity) (added video)

So for leveling, I think throwing in the new plant skill Entangle might be worth using. It's phys damage so you can try to stack as much poison on it. The unearthed minions will spread both Contagion and poison after killing the first mob. No harm in just adding it to the build as it's a duration skill and it also slows mobs. So we don't have to cast it often.

Not really any changes except for the limit to 1 of each rune/core. So we just use a rare belt with resistances to make gearing easier unless there is a good new unique belt. Went through all the changes a couple posts ago.

The new ascendancy has some interesting stuff but:

- "100% of ele damage is taken from mana before life" is mainly for hybrid life/ES builds. I don't think it's worth for CI. CI is better than going hybrid because it makes gearing easier (no chaos res needed).

- the recharge reduction is not useful for this build as it relies on recoup 99% of the time to recover ES.

- the extra amour based on ES will reduce small hits but that's never a problem with a recoup build.

- the ability to use a staff+focus is decent but you need a wand for Chaos Bolt to apply wither stacks. So staves are not really that good for chaos dps builds.


Also the main reason to go Chrono is for the insane recoup. Other ascendancies do some things better but can never reach the ES recovery levels that Chrono gets.

Got into maps last night, lvl70 now. I started almost a day late because my download speed was slow. Took 12hrs to update the game. Also took it slow. No deaths yet which was one of my goals.

Just got Sacrosanctum and gear with a bit of ES. Not enough to switch to CI yet (3k ES, 1.6k HP). Time to start grinding maps.

One thing I can say is that the gear currently available on SC trade is quite poor and costs a fair bit. Nowhere near the quality of gear I saw last league. Maybe things will change in a week or two when more players are crafting. Though gear like last league will probably not be available because of homogenizing exalt removal.


Also added Entangle to the build linked to poison. It does make Dark Effigy a lot better as you don't need to give up a link elsewhere (usually you put poison on Dark Effigy, but you need to use Contagion on bosses first if you do that). It also slows things more. So I am using the Entangle + Dark Effigy combo for tougher mobs as it's free damage that lasts over 10 seconds for one cast each. You could almost make it a build on its own (but since you're scaling almost the same things as an ED+Cont build, there's no reason to not use everything). In 0.3 I barely used Dark Effigy but now I do.


I did notice a couple things different which wasn't in the patch notes:

- Zenith II was changed. It no longer gives "recoup 25% of mana spent". It now gives "25% increased mana cost efficiency". This doesn't really affect the build as the mana recoup didn't matter since we don't spam our main skills (ED+Cont). We only spam Unearth during maps which has a low cost. The 25% efficiency is just as good since we don't get efficiency elsewhere. It still gives 30% more damage.

- There's a new slow support gem which can be linked to Temporal Chains. It's called Slow Potency which increases slow effects by 15%. Not sure if it's multiplicative with curse magnitude or additive. Either way it's good since the Blasphemy setup didn't have a useful 6th link. I used to use Hexbloom in the last link but don't think it did much. Can also link it to Entangle.

Campaign leveling:

I leveled with armour and life gear and then slowly switched to armour/ES gear around lvl60. Will be going pure ES gear now that I have Sacrosanctum. Armour is really good for the campaign (better than ES or Evasion).

To upgrade gear while leveling (did this every 10 levels or so and set max price to 1ex):

- For gloves, belt, body, helmet: I searched for items on trade with as much life+armour+resists as possible.

- For wand, get as much "+level of chaos spells" as possible with spell/chaos damage as other mods. Getting a Chaos Bolt wand is not as important while leveling.

- For amulet and focus, just get as much +spell skills as possible. Also resists if you can.

- For boots, you want as much movement speed as possible, then life+armour. You probably wont get one with resists for 1ex.

Switched to CI and am lvl81 now. About 8k ES and starting red maps.

Found another thing to fine tune while playing. The Vaal temple hand and feet augmentations have things quite good for the build. You need to get a T3 Surgeon's Symphony room. In there you can add:

- 10% damage recouped as life to boots twice (so up to an extra 20% damage recoup)
- 16% curse magnitude on gloves twice (so up to an extra 32%)

These transcendent limbs apparently will be removed if you die but since the build never dies, it's just a lot of free stuff. You get to select from 1 out of 4 augments each time and it's random from the following pools:

IncursionLeg4 (10-5)% reduced Movement Speed Penalty from using Skills while moving
IncursionLeg5 (20-30)% increased Mana Regeneration Rate while moving
IncursionLeg6 (6-10)% of Damage taken Recouped as Life
