You Can't Play the Game Without Meta Rarity, Period

I've played hundreds of hours and the fact that you simply cannot get decent loot by playing the effing game, like every other engaging ARPG in human history, is so stifling I wonder what the game design philosophy is. It is axiomatic that you cannot run high rarity without a meta - expensive - build. If you have a niche build that can't sacrifice two ring affixes, plus at least two more, you don't get nice things. Run around maps for hundreds of hours and get a couple of divines while meta-bores drive up the entire economy. It's insufferable.

I would happily just sit in my hideout and craft if that was at all profitable for the average person. This crafting model ruined that by eliminating surprise gains. The crafting meta requires you to "find" (hint, none of these crafters found anything, they just had early access to recipes) the best way to make godly items before everyone else can. This is the both the best shape the game has been in, and the absolute least fun for someone who would like to advance in the game by playing it.

Their philosophy is good things take time, and their goal is to milk you of every hour you have.

Most people that love the game are in a position to no-life it. Most people who don't no life it, low-enjoy it.

They literally told us before launch they want us to go hard or just go.


The game is yet to be in a difficult state. Most of you will be shocked in the next few patches unless they abandon their vision entirely.

all you need is 100% on gear which is easy to get. i even dropped a headhunter yesterday with just that and some rarity on the waystone

I play 1-2 hours a day, with no rarity, never hunted for towers, my build is not meta and I've never watched or read a build guide. I beat everything and I have enough currency for anything I want, all my gear is pretty much perfect all T1. Yesterday I spent a few hours in trade search and replaced some of it to get 100% rarity. Let's see how different it really is. But my point is, you do NOT need rarity nor a meta build nor 18 hours a day. Some people will always have mirrors and thousands of divines, no matter what. Have fun and don't compare yourself to those people. Inflation is bad but it won't be gone if rarity is removed. And by the way, I would like for both rarity and resistances to be reworked and be gone from suffixes to make room for more interesting suffixes. Right now our gear is very much locked in a puzzle that is too tight and I've played most of the league without changing a single piece of gear, because changing one thing means also changing at least one or two others.

It really does feel pointless to play if you’re not capped on gear. The difference between 100 to 150 is staggering. How do I know? I play 2 characters and have farmed 100+ maps and the results are that 150 nets around 4x more currency

what do you guys do with all the currency you get

for me the numbers just get bigger in the currency tab

Item rarity as a value should strictly be on the atlas tree. Which I'm on board with revamping to have a lot more points and a lot more depth. Rarity on gear long term acts as an inflationary device. It's not healthy for the economy and it adds a wild variability that makes balancing currency drops throughout your tier progression in waystones A LOT harder to nail down.

Yes you can. If a few mod rolls makes or breaks your build, fix the build. Don't worry about currency.

On the opposite end if you find your build needs hundreds of div to work, congrats. You found a FoTM build that literally everyone is milking to make currency off of you by capitalizing on it's popularity. So maybe don't do that.
