[Feedback] Light Radius - Should Reveal Rare Monster Icons on Minimap
|

I see many threads about players upset GGG took away rare mob icons on minimap. But instead of GGG just adding them back, a more elegant solution would be that Light Radius now reveals rare monsters on your mini-map in a large distance from your character (increases with higher LR).
Wow, Light Radius might actually be useful with this change! Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Oct 13, 2025, 1:18:12 PM Last bumped on Oct 16, 2025, 10:10:17 AM

Many players want something for nothing by automatically showing rare mob icons, I urge instead to give that benefit to Light Radius.

how much light radius you want to spot all rares before to explore the whole map?

" Good question, would have to be tuned by GGG to make it feel good. My initial thoughts are a Light Radius affix on two gear pieces should be adequate to be able to spot all rares on minimap. What do other people think? |

Where are all the people that would like to see Light Radius actually useful?

IDK about the rare icons, but I feel like Light Radius could increase maximum zoom out distance.

why cant we just have the icons on the minimap by default?

" Nobody is going to give away resistances or other impactul stats for light radius, why would they?? Hiding rares is just a wrong decision from the devs and we shouldnt be forced to adjust builds giving away important mods for such a useless one. Would be much better to show 1 rare after X amount of mobs killed or X% of map explored, simple as that. |

" Judging from personal experience I think the change to minimap monsters affected the way some players chose to play the game. Like, I boot a map, I open the checkpoints map to see where the rare monsters are and then choosing a route to follow. That's what's gone after the patch and some players, including me liked the way it was. It gave me a sense of incentive and it made me explore the map. Another thing I didnt like about that patch was the much smaller maps. Much smaller maps, less exploration, less incentive. I wouldn't say it's all bad though, it's just different. But there's nothing to fix imo. Showing rare monsters on the minimap now doesn't make much sense the way they retuned mapping. Last edited by rifraf-_-#9478 on Oct 14, 2025, 11:28:09 PM
