[Feedback] Giga-Nerf Energy Shield in Patch 0.5

If they nerf ES I hope there are some changes to help mages max resistances a little easier, because there are so many loose strings, its a royal pain in the *** to balance every required stat and max resistances.

" That sounds like a complete redesign of ES, which is not needed IMO. GGG just needs to lower the magnitude of ES. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Mar 18, 2026, 7:28:22 AM

" True....they need defensive alternatives. But over 8k ES is OP. |
|
" Like the Smith Ascendency I think allows you to max elemental resistance, Only by stacking fire resistance. That is a crazy benefit. Makes sense for the Warrior though. Like for Stormweaver, they could add 15% lightning or cold resistance to "shaper of storms" and "shaper of winter" Last edited by TwitchGLHFsport#2155 on Mar 18, 2026, 9:51:14 PM

+1. Otherwise make Strength concerted to 5 Life points because playing with 2-3k Life is way to low and not protective.
|
|
" That could be a potential solution for life builds. |

+1. Game became Mage abomination style. Statistics in Ninja prove that. Gane should have named Path of Mages 2. You failed with vision from the moment you made ES OP.

Most people tend to forget, that ES is absolutely not comparable to armoured/evasion affected life. When you get hit, you get 100% of the physical damage from every mob, that attacks you. With a high armoured and life regen titan you can stand in a group of mobs and eat a Snickers, while they tickle you. It isn't the same. ES =/= life with other defensive layers.
When it is so overpowered, like everyone claims...why do they even die in HC (SSF), when they have more than 6000ES? Cause it still hurts like hell, when too much phys damage is incoming. The HC(SSF) ladder is full of dead people with lots of ES. And the least of them died at a oneshot mechanic of Arbiter. Edit: And please don't come with the myth of the white mob, that oneshoots you offscreen. That has become a meme and running gag in HC chats. Edit No2: Carn and Alkaizer always show, how viable the warrior can be without huge ES. People can learn a lot from other players, when they are ready to leave their own bubble. " Untill 8k ES is normal builds. But 10-20k is clearly OP. Indeed physical damage hits hard but IF you get caught in close range fights. Most of time Mages play with ranged attacks or with minion support wich make them safe. What about 6-8k Life? Mercs playing with 1,7-2,8k Life wich get dead by one shot often. Something should change! |

" Yeah if there were no Ascendancies, I don't think ES alone is OP. Lich Ascendency has such good utility for ES, and that 100% scaling for a Jewel is something worth drooling over. We really cannot compare HP for a Smith and a Lich. The # of HP for Life vs ES does not matter that much. My Warrior is very tanky, I would NEVER survive the things I do with My Smith Warrior that only has 1.6k HP, If I did them with 7k ES instead. The juice is in % of Armour applies to elemental resistances, My smith also has it apply to chaos damage. I also run Life leach and can use a flask while taking damage. One thing that is questionable is why my Warrior can take 3x more Elemental damage as a max hit compared to physical damage. It has to do with the depreciating effect of Armour the bigger the hit is (as someone mentioned and posted a graph before in another post) Armour has a depreciating effect in endgame from large single hits. But comparing the # of HP difference between a Smith and Lich, it like comparing an apple with an orange, then dipping the apple in iron, and thinking it's still an apple and not a shell of iron.
