[Feedback] Giga-Nerf Energy Shield in Patch 0.4.0
Armour with the applied to elemental is in a great spot.
I cant speak for evasion, but armour is not in need of any further buffs to any substantial level that I am aware of. Mash the clean

" Respectfully disagree. Armor and evasion are in a pretty good spot with the recent changes, no buffs are required at this point. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Sep 29, 2025, 11:31:53 PM

Jonathan, first I wish all the success as PoE2 is shaping up to be a masterpiece arpg. But urge GGG in next Patch 0.4.0 to take a hard look at Energy Shield and consider a few nerfs as it is clearly an outlier as compared to armour and evasion. Casters should not be more tanky as compared to warriors, they should be more akin to glass cannons.
Many PoE2 content creators say ES is overtuned, and I wholehearty agree. But the naysayers from the PoE1 community want into devolve this game to mindless blasting and instant screen clearing, which goes against GGG's vision for PoE2 of visceral combat and waters down the overall experience. You're never gonna guess what will cause mindless blasting when you make all defenses equally worthless, encouraging glass cannon builds like what's happened with PoE 1.
So long as timed content exists, no one's going to want to invest even more heavily into defenses to get back what they lost as it means losing the DPS and clear speed necessary to complete them. What you're asking for will literally push PoE 2 that much closer to PoE 1. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley Last edited by Pizzarugi#6258 on Sep 30, 2025, 11:03:27 AM

" To be honest, at times I don't really see a proper vision for PoE 2. On one side GGG gives you a lot of tools that allows you to blast really fast, on the other hand there's also a lot of stuff that constantly slows you down. It legitimately feels like the game sometimes doesn't know its own identity. |

I would like to post this again.
Tanking all hits from Xesht and still doing some pretty good damage for Armour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__3391ywSqU There's a lot of discussions around ES being crazy good and tanking shots but then clearly the build above, doesn't that also fall under that category? |

" Xesht has been massively nerfed this patch. The only boss that does any damage now is Arbiter. Mash the clean

I don't even think it should be an issue for builds to actually tank everything, including bosses. The point of an ARPG is to become a God with enough effort. If you have crazy gear and a crazy good build you should be able to tank hits that normally oneshot you.

Hey im all for builds to be eventually be OP like that, if this game was a never ending league then that would be a different thing but as Leagues are only 4 months i think that being able to min/max to be god like is a staple of being an ARPG, im all for getting your character that good.
I was just trying to give another view on the discussion where people seem to be pushing the agenda that ES is the only way to get your defences OP when there is clearly a path to get Armour that far, we know Life can do that with the Blood Mage builds. |

" Agreed. And what's worse in this thread is, having high ES dosen't mean your char is even good. Because most of the time, if you have very high ES it means you have sacrified a lot of DPS. I bet those 40k ES char cannot clear a T4 simulacrum whilst my 9k ES char can. |
