The "TRIP" mechanic is the dumbest thing I've seen in a video game.

If skill slot availability isn't an issue, I've found that dedicating one slot to the Behead Lineage Support "So-and-So's Beast Rite" was a happy compromise. You get 2 extended duration (over 3min) monster mods and steal them on your own terms.

You're not supposed to sprint in combat or past enemies.

The devs do not want you sprinting in combat or past enemies.

They implemented tripping explicitly to prevent us from sprinting during combat or bypassing enemies.

That is all good on paper, problem is putting sprint and dodge roll on the same button.

Sprint is for no enemies around, roll is for lots of enemies around. Contradiction, no? In practice people get tripped by accident, not trying to cheese past mobs. Rolling 2-3 times in a row and heaving too heavy on button is enough.

Yes, the reason for this... questionable... decision likely was controller support limitation, but why wreck PC users gameplay as well? So hard to add another sprint keybind for keyboard/mouse setups?

For people saying it's a skill issue - it isn't a skill issue when I have headhunter and I'm running around the map with absolutely no mobs around me and then out of nowhere I get teleported backwards into an alley with a group of monsters who then trip me because I was sprinting and then I get swarmed and die. That's an issue

Pretty much everyone defending this mechanic plays range. They need to get rid of it or give a grace period/amount of hits you can take.

Sprint should give you some "grace hits" where you're knockdown resistant;

Rangers get 1 hit, melee gets 3.
