Crafting, should it be nerfed?

Wow a streamer steamrolls with the meta-est shit imaginable and then calls things "OP" ?

Why do people even listen to what these people have to say.
Show me a fubgun SSF on a melee warrior who uses actual mace skills (at league start), and then we can talk.

Crafting and trading always felt backwards to me. The logical order would be crafting first and trade later but because trade gets me what I want without any risk and is a fraction of the cost of gambling currency on items, trading is the only way to progress gear early to mid and even late game. Last league only 1 piece of gear was a pure luck self craft. That alone shows how the game is built around trade rather than crafting/actual gameplay.

Its always been my main criticism of poe1. Hundred different currency items yet getting just a 3 res ring will take forever unless you have access to inaccessible endgame crafting. Or just buy it for 1 chaos. As much as streamers hated harvest, it was the only league that I felt I could play the game and completely ignore trade. Made it actually feel like a game and not a trade sim. Still wasnt even close to getting those perfect items that streamers said they made in 2 seconds. And it still was based on rng just more controlled rng. Sadly it only lasted one league.

Fubgun lives in his 0.000001% world.

I saw his video & I do agree with most of what he mentioned but specifically his crafting comment was a HUGE question mark.

The required materials for high end crafting are already on multiple divines. If GGG look at the actual data of their players and look at how many players ever used a whittling, or one of these materials, or hell, even reach 10d+ bank worth, I'm SURE the VAST majority of the player base doesn't get to even try and engage in these systems.

If they want to alienate the player base like they did in PoE1, sure, nerf away and over time they'll simply lose the players who won't have access to the vast majority of the game's experience.

This is a systemic problem, though. Just because the 0.000001% of players who play 250h at maximum efficiency in the first 2 weeks of a league have good items does NOT mean they should nerf whatever they're doing with Crafting.

Any normal player would take at least 1000h+ to do what Fubgun does in 250h.

What they should do is look at how the 99.99% of their player base is engaging with the game, what they can do, how much of the current systems they are able to engage with and buff/nerf accordingly.

If they have the most minimal sense of logic or business perspective, the answer is pretty clear.

Exactly this. Could not have said it better. I would bet well over 50% never even get a divine in a season. Those who play all day or have crazy luck or just know every single system inside and out will ALWAYS be above the vast majority. Basing changes on their feedback in those specific scenarios is alienating the vast majority of the players. I would much rather have the game balanced and designed around SSF than trading (if they wont separate the two as far as drops are concerned) If you play this game as a trading simulator to rush to top end gear and then cry its too easy, its your own fault. Its like taking every short cut possible in a racing game while others are racing the track normally. Easiest comparison I can make.

Bless you, someone gets it. Add Johnathan live streaming this too. No dev spawns. Straight SSF melee mace pain. Then mark does the same thing with deadeye. Then we see who can beat campaign first. Then get to hear him rationalize how they are the same experience. I look forward to this stream.

This would be golden.

My experience is now that everyone is crafting I was able to buy my gear for 1 exalt a piece and I've got my greatest character yet

This resume the entire problem of too easy crafting (it's also linked to the new trade system - trade league always been easier, but before you had to farm before being able buy insane items)
