PoE2 randomly freezes and resets map exploration progress

Issue explained here by GGG:

youtube.com/watch?t=6487&v=LtHF35GOZhw&feature=youtu.be

I have found success (so far) with Nvidia driver version 560.81

Notes:

(1) Click through the "outdated driver" warning when starting PoE2

(2) When changing Nvidia drivers, it's a good practice to use DDU third-party utility to *completely* remove the previous driver, as the Nvidia "clean install" leaves some stuff behind.

(3) I clear the PoE2 Nvidia DX12 shader cache as well

I cannot answer:

(1) Why GGG knows the "fix" to this issue is to use an older Nvidia driver, but still prompts you to upgrade your driver to a newer version with this issue.

(2) Why Nvidia cannot or won't investigate and fix this issue. Counting at the guru3d website, there have been 33 driver updates and hotfixes since 560.81 and... none fix this? Hmmm

(3) Is PoE2 the only game that has this problem?

for me, my maps were resetting because the shaders weren't saving correctly.. and it made the game laggy AF!

If you have nvidia graphic card make sure to set 100 GO of cache in nvidia panel

Also check if your path for shaders is correct in "poe2_production_Config.ini"
(Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2)

by default it

[GENERAL]
cache_directory=C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\ShaderCache\

don't forget the \ at the end.

For me I changed my shaders to:
[GENERAL]
cache_directory=G:\Path of Exile 2\ShaderCache\
(where my game is installed, on my SSD)

Thanks alot for your post! This seems to have solved the issue on my PC aswell, although i use a AMD card. I uninstalled the current driver and installed one from a similar period of time you did. Now, with the AMD driver Vers. 24.7.1, I haven't faced the issue in the last 10 hours of gameplay.
I hope it will be fixed in future with the current drivers.
