SPRINT = SHIFT | DODGE = SPACE
I love sprint. It's good. It makes the playthrough faster and it's a good option to get out of crowded situations. There's only one thing that I think could get an improvement.
Right now, you have to dodge in order to sprint after that. And sometimes, if I press the dodge roll button to long, I start sprinting even though I didn't have the intention to sprint. Ofc this can lead to a not-wanted fall by being hit and the sprint itself has a small stop animation when ending it, also being a risk for me. Also, it kinda feels strange that I need to roll before running. I know it's a game mechanic and we shouldnt compare to real life, but it kinda looks hilarious. :D So what I would suggest: Give us the OPTION to seperate dodge and roll. So keep the current version, but add an alternative for people like me who lack the skill to dodge without starting to run sometimes. And this alternative version would be to separate shift and running by giving the their own button each. Most games use shift for running and space for dodging. So I would suggest this for PoE2 too. And if people use the alternative version and press shift while performing a dodge roll, it would still work exactly like the current version (character goes fluidly from dodge into running animation). They put it on dodge roll because it's one of the only binds that makes sense across all control schemes (WASD, Mouse, controller). But yeah I do agree that in WASD it should just be on shift.

I already lost count of how many times i died due to my char deciding to sprint after a doge roll, then getting hit, falling to the ground and insta gangbanged. What i do remember is the incredible feeling of frustration that immediately follows when this happens. Melee was already gimped enough without adding this layer to the torture scheme.
I agree that there are enough options on a keyboard to have the dodge / sprint ability on two separate keys... |

Bro i'm out of buttons on the controller already and I trimmed some utilities too, so i can fit the "combo gameplay"...

" That's why I suggested to make it optional. Like: You can still have the current controls, but for anyone else who likes these two things separated, you can choose to do so. |

The immediate glaring question is of cource
"If we make sprint be bound to shift, then how will we be switching our skill bar to the second set?" Since, you know, that's what shift, as the de facto modifier key, already does. |
