Trials of Chaos are the Single Most Annoying thing in Gaming

Let me summarize. Defeat 10 rooms in a row to win a mace when you are a caster and constantly debuff yourself until winning is impossible.

That this should be a required part of the progression is infurriating. I am 5 levels above the trial and failed 3 times. Each time I was offered RNG options that are all catastrophic. One time I was offered three options that all added up to a single hit is death.

Add on to it that the Trial Master is the single biggest D!ck in POE universe.

I dont know a SINGLE person that liked Ultimatum in POE1. Why you made it essential here is incomprehensible.

The big issue imo is both the trials just waste a lot of time. They should really be half as long. And the mods in Temple of Chaos suck because all of them are bad, and you get basically no buffs at all to offset it.

Basically, both trials are presented as a way to prove yourself to get ascendancy but in reality they are both just RNG fests that waste your time and have little to do with your real play ability in the rest of the game.

I mean, both trials are a master class in everything to avoid in game design.
As you write chaos trials punish you with an affliction for success, i.e., finishing a room. To add insult to injury you are allowed to pick which way you want to get shafted. Sure you get a reward, but that too just leaves a sour taste in your mouth because it is corrupted blue vendor trash most of the time.

It would be so easy to make it feel a lot better. For instance they could constantly ramp up the difficulty from room to room by default. Upon successfully finishing a room you are allowed to pick one of three buffs helping you to offset the next challenge. Your reward is uncorrupted and you can pick if you want to corrupt it or not - this way you can save the good blues and yellows you may want to use for crafting, and basically get a free vaal attempt at the trash you don't want to keep.

This way you are rewarded for success. Success gives you a feeling of progression. You have agency over the progression. Idk, this is 101 game design stuff.
You don't have to do trail of chaos. Trial of the Sekhemas is way better than Chaos if you're trying to get you 4th point. I don't think you have to do it for the second point, but it's free so no reason not to.

I hated the Ultimatum event in PoE 1. Strangely I really enjoy it on PoE 2, but that might just be because I have a build that works good for it. Sekhema's on the other hand routinely owns me and it's a giant PITA I avoid like the plague.

So it may be that the Chaos Trial favors melee builds and Sekhema's trial favors caster builds.
Trial of chaos is a bit boring, but it's definitely easier than sekhemas. Unless you have impending doom + slower proj + 300% monster crit chance in the same roll, all debuff are quite easy (volatile maybe the harder among the playable ones).
Hard agree.
I had no issue doing it on my monk, but now on my Ranger I have literally failed about 56 times on the 3rd Trial. Why even have Trial of Chaos or Trials in general as part of the game, just remove this trash.
It's just so much RNG

I really think it should give a new curse every other room.
Eh, just plan your character around not doing ascendency.
The game is about dodging, not trying different builds.
