Minion Witch can't tank

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm at level 80. I'm doing minion with some support spells like raging spirit fireball or ice spells. Basically doing Atlas with monster level 79 to 80.

I find that minions can't tank at all. They don't die easily but the monsters especially melee mobs just bypass all the minions and will only target me to attack. Spell casters mobs can just cast chaos spells on me even outside of the screen.

The whole point running minions are to have them to tank. The passive nodes are to make minions strong enough to survive. What's the point of those if they don't draw attacks from the enemies?

I have the same problem myself. My gears pretty bad and all my passives are into minions so I die in 1 hit. What works for me is to never stop rolling, ever. I've been running T14's fully modded and rarely die except when getting 1shot from something off screen.

I always make sure to have a clear exit and am always at the ready to run/roll away.

It would be nice if there was a gem that would let your minions "Taunt" the enemy to attract aggro. Everyone always laser focuses onto my dude so I'm debating refunding the +minion health/resistance and sinking those points into myself. The last time I remember a minion dieing was during the "King of the Forest" special boss fight thing and it's because my cleric was standing in a chaos tornado.

It does seem like a shame that enemys always want to only target you.


I'm hoping with better gear I'll actually be able to join and help them in fighting but for now I just Forrest Gump around the map, screaming from the backline.
Why aren't you investing in defenses then? ES is the easiest defense to scale and is extremely rewarding once you transition to CI
es is good in high-cost-end.
And when you have es-leech (you would have no in poe2 i believe)
Still, you need a room for recharge. Or evasion+es hybrid

Also, as minion player, you need to sacrifice 3x prefixes on body for spirit +2x prefixes. This is huge as body armor is 70% of your defences.
Then spirit+minion skills on amulet is extremely costly, so you gonna skip defences there most likely.
Minions are in worst position gearing-wise, they lack both clear speed and durability until very high-end-gear.

It would be more forgivable if minions have higher agro range and better ai overall. And enemies should less priorites player.

ES works from level 1. There is insane amount of ES recharge rate/earlier start of recharge rate both on gear and on the tree. It is way better for leveling and end game unlike PoE 1.

heavily disagree. Even in poe1 it was much easirt to level in hybrids. Before you take a lot of recharge time and recharge speed its very uncomfortable, yet amounts are very low also. And there are no mitigations.
Evasion/armor allows you to mitigate damage while stacking hp - making one improve another (very simplified formula is hp*evasion or hp*armor). While es still require to stack hp early on (formula is hp+es which have zero scaling for each other).

Everybody else disagrees with you. Top 3 classes in HC (apart from Deadeye which is a heavy outlier and should not be considered) all use a form of ES. In fact witches take 3 out of the top 4 places with Blood Mage being the one which is not strictly ES (but still utilizes it). Lich is extremely popular overall in trade and SSF league, and is designed to be ES/minion.

And deadeye also uses es i bet. You look at top and top are defined by top gear also. And top gear makes es viable, not the way around.
Also, i bet there are no minion in tops, more like chaos spellcasters who are great vs abyss hordes. Or bloodmages who dont care about minions at all.
I'm doing a Lich minion master atm and I'm destroying everything without much effort. I disagree.
After reading the comments above, I don't know man....

I'm trying to discuss why the minions don't draw aggro and people are telling me to just make my character more thanky...whether I go with energy shield or evation + armor, or whatever....


It's like when you're at a restaurant telling the server that the steak is over cooked, and the server asks you why you don't try their salmon....
